Vacancy: Experienced Fabricator / Welder / Engineer

We are a growing Nelson engineering company that manufactures a range of components for the civil construction industry including grilles, covers and pipe work supplied all over New Zealand. Due to continual growth we now need to add someone to our workshop team as a Senior Fabricator / Welder.

The role is to be part of our friendly and busy team manufacturing our range of products. This is a full-time position being offered, with normal hours being 7am - 4:30pm, 5 Days a week. The suitable applicant needs to have most or all of the following attributes:

• Experienced Welder Fabricator, with experience in alloy and SS would be an advantage. Mainly based in our Workshop with some site work
• Experienced in two of more of the following Mig or Tig welding of Mild steel, Alloy and SS
• Qualification
• Be currently or recently, working in Engineering field
• Be able to work on their own and with others
• Fast and excellent work ethics
• Be trustworthy, tidy and reliable
• Customer focus and safety conscious
• Have current NZ driving license
• Have a good sense of humor and friendly manner.

The Easby Park waterways in Richmond were damaged in the August ’25 storm event. TDC engaged with Metal Craft Ltd to design and manufacture new stormwater intakes to cope with storm events and mitigate flooding to neighbouring homes. Photos show the damage of the old structure, and the new stormwater intakes which will provide a safer environment for everyone.

Good to see our pipework and grilles in use by TDC

A milestone has been achieved for Tasman District’s future management of drinking water, wastewater, and stormwater services, with Elected Members endorsing a new Water Services Delivery Plan.

The plan will guide an in-house business unit that will implement the requirements of the Government’s Local Water Done Well programme.

This unit will be managed separately from other Council operations in a ringfenced capacity. While still part of the Council, it will be independently monitored to ensure high environmental and customer standards, as set by Taumata Arowai and the Commerce Commission.

The Minister of Local Government granted an extension to the deadline for presentation of the plan because of the mid-winter flood emergency – it must now be presented by 1 October.

Following submission of the plan, a DIA assessment panel will look at the plan and potentially ask further questions or request additional information. All going well, recommendations will be made to the Secretary of Local Government with likely notification before Christmas.
