🎬 Our vision for a ‘Taranaki H**p Hub’ featured on Seven Sharp on Tuesday night, showcasing to New Zealand the region's emerging h**p fibre ecosystem.

Building off successful h**p growing trials, the project sees huge potential for h**p fibre in the construction sector for both h**pcrete and new innovative products. With an engaged community of builders, designers, engineers, and existing local h**pcrete homeowners, Taranaki is well positioned to progress this new industry.

We are also excited to share a first look at the pilot-scale h**p fibre processing unit which has landed in region. Currently undergoing final modifications ahead of commissioning in early 2026, it will be capable of processing 90 hectares of h**p annually - enough to build 50+ h**pcrete homes.

We would like to introduce Kevin Richards.
We are very happy to have him as part of our team.
My name is Kevin Richards and I am a qualified builder specialising in residential renovations and extensions, with significant experience in residential and commercial new-builds as well as retail refits. I believe quality workmanship is the most important aspect of building, and I take pride in a job well done. I started my apprenticeship with a home renovations builder in Palmerston North in 2016 - becoming qualified in 2020 and I have been involved in building throughout my life. I helped build a log house as a teenager, renovated several of my own character homes over the years, and worked for various builders while completing a Social Work degree in my thirties. My apprenticeship has included several residential and commercial new builds and retail fit outs, with the majority of my training being in home renovations and extensions. My Wife's family have lived in the Taranaki area for many years, and we have recently relocated to New Plymouth with our two younger children - with our three older kids living in Palmerston North, Christchurch and Dunedin. We love the mountain and the coast, and we hope to make the most of the fantastic outdoor lifestyle on offer here. I am very pleased to join Tony and Steph as a member of the Tony Cook Builder team and I look forward to helping with your building improvements and new builds.
