🎉Congratulations, Travis! 🎉

We’re incredibly proud to celebrate Travis being selected to attend the CCNZ National Conference in Tauranga this July as a Young and Promising Leader in the Civil Construction Sector!

Travis joined the Blackley Construction team just 3½ years ago as a foreman on the civil side. Since then, his drive, leadership, and commitment to excellence have seen him rise to the role of Supervisor—all by the age of 28!

He holds a NZ Certificate in Infrastructure Works (Level 4), is a Certifiying Drainlayer, and is currently furthering his skills by completing his Project Management papers.

Travis is a true asset to the Blackley team, and we’re thrilled to see his hard work and potential being recognised on a national level.

Well done, Travis—this is a well-deserved achievement! 👏💪

Here’s a glimpse at Bob and Dean’s handiwork

The stream had gone rogue, skipping culverts and making its own scenic route. But the lads weren’t having a bar of it.

With the precision of surgeons (if surgeons worked outdoors and swore at water), they relaid the culverts, rebuilt the wing walls, and even threw in an emergency spillway — just in case Mother Nature decides to get cheeky again. Top-notch effort, boys!

Building tracks and chasing dreams!

Henry’s been out carving his name into the dirt, taking the reins on this 400m horse track through the paddocks.

Topsoil bunding laid, filled depressions, and over 50 loads of river run and lime later — the track’s capped off smoother than a raceday finish line.

From pricing to organising to swinging the gear, Henry smashed it out — 9 days straight, rain, hail, or shine. Proud effort! 🐎

Civil Construction Foreman

Location: Palmerston North, Manawatū / Whanganui
Job Type: Full Time, Permanent

About Us

Established in 1960, Blackley Construction is a family-owned, Palmerston North-based company specialising in civil and rural infrastructure projects. Whether it's digging deep for land drainage, laying precision pipelines, or installing ducts for telecommunications, we've been making the region a better place to live, one project at a time. We're all about community, high standards, and occasionally being impressed when someone gets our digger unstuck without calling for help.

Why This Role Rocks

Do you enjoy getting your boots dirty, managing teams, and shouting things like “measure twice, cut once” (even when you're just supervising)? We need someone with experience, grit, and the leadership skills to keep the crew running like a well-oiled trenching machine. Bonus points if you can spot a ducting alignment issue from 100 meters away and know how to bribe Mother Nature to delay rain. 🌧️

Key Responsibilities
Lead, inspire, and occasionally bribe a skilled team of construction professionals with coffee and donuts.
Oversee daily project operations, ensuring everything is on time, on budget, and laid to specs.
Manage stakeholders, including clients, subcontractors, and the odd nosy neighbour with binoculars.
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards – because paperwork isn't optional, and safety is everything.
Train and mentor your team, shaping the next generation of foremen (and women).
Keep the plant and equipment running efficiently – yes, that includes finding the keys someone “borrowed.”

What We’re Looking For

Experience: Proven success as a Civil Construction Foreman – if you’ve run a project where things didn’t end in chaos, we want you.
Certification: Connexis Pipelaying Qualification (or equivalent) – not just for show, but to show you know your stuff.
Skills: Problem-solving ninja, detail-focused, and people-savvy.
License: A valid NZ Driver’s License (if you can reverse a trailer in one go, even better).

What You’ll Get

Competitive pay and a company vehicle – though the keys might be in the excavator.
A high level of autonomy – we trust you, but we’ll still take credit for your successes.
Support from a family-oriented, approachable management team (we swear they’re nice).
Tools of the trade – access to a top-notch fleet of well-maintained equipment that might even smell new-ish.

Why Join Blackley Construction?

Stability: We’ve been here for 64 years, and we’re not going anywhere (except maybe for Friday pub lunches).
Innovation: Got an idea to make the job faster, better, or safer? We’ll hear you out – possibly over pie.
Flat Management Structure: We’re all about approachable bosses and quick decisions, not endless bureaucracy.
Community Focused: Help us make the Manawatū region shine (or at least drain properly).

How to Apply
Ready to tackle big projects and enjoy a bit of banter on-site? Send your CV to [email protected] or call Kevin (0274 445 327) or Kyleen (0211 382 630) for more info.

Applicants must have NZ residency or a valid work visa. A pre-employment medical and drug screen will be required – because safety first, second, and third!

Join the team that digs deeper, builds stronger, and always has a laugh along the way.
