Not everything we build has wings. ๐Ÿ”ง

Fieldair's General Engineering Services team designs and manufactures freight-handling and ground-support equipment right here in New Zealand, and, as part of the Freightways group, some of our closest customers are right next door.

From sorting tables and parcel cages to freight trolleys, airside baggage trolleys, and height access platforms, we build equipment used every day across Freightways' brands, including NZ Couriers, Post Haste, Castle Parcels, DX Mail, and Parceline.

Everything we make is engineered for the demands of the apron, the terminal, and the freight shed. Standard products are available off the shelf, and if your operation needs something different, we'll build it to suit your needs.

Most passengers never think about what happens before a plane is ready to board. Kaea does every single day. ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ”ง

As a Ground Support Equipment Engineer, his day starts at 6:00 a.m. airside, long before most travellers are awake. Belt loaders, tow tractors, ground power units - the equipment nobody notices until it stops working.

A failed GPU. A broken baggage tug at gate 13 in the rain. Call after call through a radio that never rests. Every repair carries urgency, because at an airport, time never pauses.

By dusk, hands marked with grease and engine oil, Kaea watched a plane climb into the evening sky.

The passengers on board would never know his name, but because of him, they were on their way. โœˆ๏ธ

Keeping rotary-wing aircraft in the air takes a special kind of expertise. ๐Ÿš

Whether it's a scheduled service or an AOG situation, our team is set up to support helicopter operators across New Zealand and the Pacific, getting you back in the air as quickly as possible.

Our engineers work across a wide range of helicopter types and understand what high-utilisation operations actually look like in the field.

And we're a CAA-approved Part 145 organisation and approved Robinson Helicopter Service Centre, which means the work is done properly, every time.

If your helicopter needs attention, give Nic a call ๐Ÿ“ž 027 322 3556

35 years. Same beanie. Same dedication. โœˆ๏ธ

One of the best things about marking 75 years of Fieldair is the chance to celebrate the people who've been part of the journey โ€” and Pete is one of those people.

Pete joined Fieldair in January 1990, starting out on DC3s, Fletcher and Cresco top dressing planes, and Convair 580s. By the mid-90s, he was on night shift maintaining the Air New Zealand Saab 340, and not long after became a Licensed Aircraft Engineer.

Over the decades, Pete built up ratings on the King Air C90, B200 and Jetstream 32 aircraft, managing inspections for airlines including Air Wanganui, Air2There, and Originair.

And he's still adding to that story! Pete is currently working toward becoming Fieldair's Part 148 Aircraft Manufacturing Manager, helping establish Fieldair as the place to go to get aircraft cables manufactured in New Zealand

35 years of showing up, doing the job properly, and apparently never losing the beanie.

Stories like Pete's are what 75 years of Fieldair is made of.

Meet the Fieldair Instruments and Avionics Team! ๐Ÿ‘‹

From left to right: Chris McLaughlin, Luke Feeney, Gareth Far, Scott Hawthorn, Gabe Taylor-Mclean, Jordan Henderson, Brent Weber
Absent: Riley Burns

Between them, this team brings over 175 years of combined experience to some of aviation's most technical challenges.

From a toppling gyro, wandering DI, or sluggish turn co-ordinator, through to fuel quantity gauge remarking, erratic tacho indicators, altimeter friction issues, 12 and 24 month avionics checks, ELT reprogramming and battery replacement right through to full avionics installations, this team has seen it all and knows how to solve it.

We're proud to take on the complex jobs others won't, backed by 75 years of serving New Zealand's aviation industry.

Another successful overhaul from our Components Section team. โœ…

The team recently completed a full overhaul and test on a D107320 Fuel Booster Pump for the Pilatus PC-6, a classic workhorse of New Zealand aviation.

From setting up the specialised test equipment through to completing the overhaul, it's the kind of detailed, hands-on work our Components team does day in, day out.

Whether it's a complex component or a tight turnaround, we're set up to get it done right.

Did you know Fieldair is New Zealand's sole distributor of ITW Ground Power Units? โœˆ๏ธ

GPUs supply electrical power to aircraft while they're on the ground, so there's no need to run onboard auxiliary power units or engines. That means lower fuel burn, reduced emissions and noise, and a safer, more efficient ground operation.

ITW GPUs are used across the industry, from MRO facilities and commercial operations through to business aviation and remote sites, and are known for their reliable, stable power output and durable build.

We supply three models to suit different aircraft types and operational requirements:
โšก๏ธ ITW GSE 1400 โ€” compact 28 VDC solid-state GPU, easy to manoeuvre in mobile or fixed configurations.
โšก๏ธ ITW GSE 2400 Compact โ€” the go-to point-of-use 400 Hz GPU, simple, reliable, and robust.
โšก๏ธ ITW GSE 7400 eGPU โ€” ideal for remote stands and hangars, with options for narrow body, wide body, and business jets.

Our support doesn't stop at supply. We help with equipment selection, installation, and ongoing technical support. Lease options are also available if you'd prefer to avoid upfront capital outlay.

10,000 hours. That's a lot of time in the air! โœˆ๏ธ

The Massey University School of Aviation Diamond DA-40 and DA-42 have been part of the Fieldair family since day one. We were involved in bringing it into the country, assembling it as a brand-new aircraft, and have proudly maintained it ever since.

But this aircraft is more than just a maintenance job. It's part of how the next generation of New Zealand pilots and aviation professionals get their start. Every hour logged in this aircraft is another step forward for a student working toward their wings.

Reaching 10,000 hours is a milestone worth celebrating and a reflection of the trust Massey University School of Aviation places in our team to keep their fleet safe, airworthy, and ready to fly.

A big part of that ongoing relationship is our Engineering team, Nic & Heath, who have been central to the care of this aircraft throughout its life. It's exactly the kind of long-term partnership we value deeply at Fieldair.

Congratulations to the team at Massey University School of Aviation on this milestone. Here's to the next generation, and the next 10,000 hours! ๐Ÿ™Œ
