Finally, our time has come. 😂

Today is WPO - World Packaging Organisation Day, which feels like a fairly significant occasion when you spend as much time thinking about bags and sacks as we do.

Because for something that looks pretty simple, a good bag gets asked to do an awful lot.

It has to protect what’s inside it, behave itself through production, survive being filled, lifted, stacked, stored and transported, carry someone’s brand around on its front and, rather importantly, actually be there when it’s needed.

So today we’re raising a bag to packaging. 🥂

Happy World Packaging Day from a bunch of people who probably think about bags more than is strictly normal. 😂

Well, for the second year running, a jar of seeds has caused quite the stir.

The Seed Count Challenge was back at the Seed and Grain New Zealand Summit this week and, judging by the number of entries, you lot are still very keen on winning a pair of R.M.Williams boots.

A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by Site 2, had a yarn with the Smart Pack team and put a guess in. We had a brilliant couple of days catching up with you all.

And a big thank you to Townsend Seeds International Ltd for supplying the seed and helping us bring the challenge back for another year.

Now to the important bit…

We have a winner — and they got ridiculously close.

The Seed and Grain New Zealand Summit kicks off tomorrow at One New Zealand Stadium in Christchurch. Come find us at Site 2, have a yarn, talk packaging, and take a crack at the Seed Count Challenge.

Nothing fires up a bunch of packaging people quite like being told they get to talk shop for two whole days. 😂

So yep, the team is already fizzing for the Seed and Grain New Zealand Summit, 1–2 September.

We’ll be at Site 2 talking all things seed, grain and, naturally, bags, with the return of our Guess the Seed Count challenge. And thanks to our mates at Townsend Seeds for supplying the seeds, there’s another pair of R.M.Williams boots up for grabs. 👢

We’ve recently welcomed a new customer to Smart Pack, and when they told us why they chose us, transparency got a pretty big tick.

There were a few curly bits to work through, but what mattered was knowing where things stood, what the plan was and what happened next.

No smoke. No mirrors. No interpretive dance required 😂 Just good conversations, a clear plan and everyone kept in the loop.

The bags still need to be bang on, obviously. But the people bit matters too.

Imagine getting the packaging update before you’ve had to ask for it. Funny old concept. We’re rather fond of it.

Our bag photo of the week contains precisely zero bags. 😂

One of the team sent this through from Mildura while out doing the rounds with customers amongst some pretty impressive citrus and almond country.

And really, it was too good not to share.

We spend a fair bit of time hoofing around regional Australia, getting out to see our customers and the places where the real action happens. Good people, big country and plenty being grown that, sooner or later, will probably need putting in a bag.

Today though, we’ll leave the bags out of it and just appreciate the view.

Although give us half a chance and we’ll probably find something around here that needs putting in one. 😂
