We like to think that Smart Pack and the Hurricanes have a fair bit in common.

🌪️We both like turning up when it counts.

🌪️We both know what can happen when a good team pulls together.

🌪️And we both know that consistency beats hype every day of the week. (Although after Saturday night, we'll allow a bit of hype.)

While we proudly operate across Australasia, we've got a few long-time Hurricanes supporters in the Palmy office who have been pretty happy since Saturday night.

After a game that had us glued to our seats, we couldn't let Monday roll around without giving a nod to the Hurricanes.

There's stacking.

And then there's whatever Wholegrain Milling have going on here. 👀

At first glance it looks random.

Look a little closer and you'll see a stack pattern that puts the packaging front and centre from almost every angle, while creating a stable pallet that's ready for storage, transport and handling.

A smart reminder that great packaging doesn't stop at the bag itself. It's also about how it performs once it's filled, stacked and moving through the supply chain.

The Big V8 was back at Smart Pack HQ this week grabbing another load of bags 🚛

Always good to see the Sharpes Farm Feeds crew.

They've been backing Kiwi farmers for generations and continue to find better ways of doing things, from sourcing ingredients as locally as possible to packaging their products in 100% recyclable bags.

We're proud to have our bags heading out the gate with a team that does a cracking job and genuinely cares about the people they serve.

One of the biggest productivity wins we've seen lately?

Less mucking around. 👌

We recently worked with a customer who was spending more time than they should have unloading, moving and handling product on the production line.

The product wasn't the problem.

The packaging was.

A small change to how it was packed made life easier for the operators and helped speed things up across the day.

It's a good reminder that sometimes the biggest improvements come from the things you've walked past so many times, you've stopped noticing them.

We recently worked with a customer who was losing more time than they should have been on the handling side of things.

Not the product itself. Just the unloading, moving, and general mucking around that happens on a production line over the course of a day.

By changing the way the product was packed and presented, we were able to make things a whole lot quicker and easier for the operators using it day to day.

It's funny how often the best operational improvements come from looking at the small stuff everyone has walked past so many times they've stopped seeing it.
That's the kind of thing we enjoy helping customers with around here 🤝

There are people who know Pantone colours. 🎨

There are people who know packaging. 📦

Then there are our designers, who can talk Pantones and print areas in the same conversation.

Because while most people look at a bag and see a logo, our in-house design team sees folds, seams, print areas, substrates, handles, gussets, and about 47 other things the rest of us didn't know had names.

It's a strangely specific skill set, and fortunately for our customers, it comes with the Smart Pack service.

The other part is making sure it still looks good once it's been folded, stacked, freighted, stored, unpacked, put on a shelf and asked to compete for attention alongside dozens of other products.

Our Business Development Manager Carl had what he thought was a brilliant idea. Now it's everyone's challenge.

The Smart Pack team is taking on The Push-Up Challenge - Australia this June, completing 3,307 push-ups in 24 days to raise awareness and funds for mental health.

We're hoping to come out the other side looking a bit more “superhero” and a bit less “office worker”. More importantly, we're helping raise awareness that nobody should face their toughest days alone.

“It’s hard to soar with the eagles when you’re surrounded by turkeys.” 🦅

Mainfreight trucks at Smart Pack HQ are nothing new, but this line on the back of one yesterday made us stop for a second.

Because honestly, that’s kind of how we see packaging too.

At Smart Pack, we’re not just about dropping bags at your door and disappearing into the sunset. We like being part of the team. The ones helping things run smoother, solving problems quickly, and making life a bit easier behind the scenes.

Basically… fewer turkeys. More people who just get stuff done 🤝

Mason keeps the wheels turning in Sales Support, making sure customers have the bags they need, when they need them, without the 4:58pm Friday panic 😅

He’s also a part-time farmer, knows how to run a proper fence break, and always keeps a strop in the back of the ute, just in case 🚜

Each month, one of the team gets to choose where Smart Pack’s charitable donation goes, and this month Mason picked Asthma and Respiratory Foundation NZ

Considering 1 million Kiwis are living with respiratory disease, the work these guys do is pretty huge. From education and advocacy through to helping improve respiratory health outcomes across New Zealand, they’re supporting a lot of people every single day.

What makes it even more impressive is they do it without Government contract funding, relying on donations, sponsorships, and community support to keep doing what they do.

Good people doing seriously important work, and we’re proud to support it 💚

A few coffees deep, a few swings in, and a few lollies floating around to keep the energy up, and the 2026 Annual Ambrose Golf Tournament is already shaping up to be a cracking day out ⛳️☕️🍬

Great to catch up with a few familiar faces off the warehouse floor and out on the fairways for a change. Smart Pack has shouted the coffees today, with the legends at Café Tango NZ keeping everyone properly fuelled.

And a huge thanks to Seed and Grain New Zealand for putting on another brilliant event.

Next time we will have to bring the clubs.........
