🌞 Exciting times for solar in the Pacific!

Our General Manager of Clay Energy, Praneel Kumar, recently spoke on One Breakfast TV about the upcoming SEIAPI Conference (March 24-25) in Suva – the first SEIAPI Conference in 15 years – which will focus on accelerating the Pacific’s transition to sustainable energy.

Key topics of the conference include:
- Challenges facing solar companies in the Pacific
- Policy and regulatory barriers
- Labour shortages and workforce capacity building
- Pacific women in solar energy
- Case studies

As Sunergise, we’re proud to participate with our brands Sunergise and Clay Energy, presenting some of our commercial solar case studies and sharing insights on financing the energy transition.

🤝 We’d like to thank Seiapi Pacific for the opportunity and look forward to an engaging and inspiring conference!

Winner: Best Off-Grid System Award for Sunergise Motutapu Island project ☀️

From diesel dependency to energy independence: Sunergise is beaming with the news that our fully off-grid renewable solution for Motutapu Island has been recognised at the 2025 SEANZ Awards.

The challenge: Motutapu Island, one of New Zealand's most iconic conservation sites, once relied on diesel generators with high fuel costs and emissions. Difficult fuel transport made things even more unsustainable.

Our solution: A complete island micro-grid featuring:
⚡️ High-efficiency solar generation
🔋 Robust redundant battery storage
🧠 Intelligent hybrid management system
💨 Built to withstand harsh coastal conditions

Working with the Department of Conservation, Ngāi Tai ki Tāmaki, RevolveEnergy, Sungrow, and S-Rack, we overcame significant logistical, environmental, and heritage challenges to deliver a turnkey, future-proof system.

The result: Dramatically reduced fossil fuel use, enhanced operational resilience for DOC, and energy independence for this precious conservation site.

As part of the awards, SEANZ described the project as ”A national benchmark for renewable power in remote, environmentally sensitive locations... The complexity of working on an island makes the scale of this solution impressive.”

This project showcases how innovative renewable solutions can protect our most treasured places while building a sustainable future.

Best Grid-Connected Solar Power System 🌟
We're honoured that our work has been recognised at the 2025 SEANZ Awards as the winner of the Revolve Energy Best Grid-Connected System Award for the Victoria University Living Pā, Ngā Mokopuna project.
We are also proud to be part of the team that helped transform the design vision into a fully operational, sustainable solution meeting Living Building Challenge standards and achieving a landmark renewable energy installation.

The project delivered:
☀️ Full compliance with rigorous Living Building Challenge standards
☀️ Industry-first solutions for solar mounting and corrosion prevention
☀️ Architectural vision merged with functional resilience
☀️ A net-positive energy system with 7-day backup for critical loads

SEANZ described the project as "A benchmark in sustainable construction... one of the few worldwide meeting Living Building Challenge standards... proving performance and ethics can coexist without compromise... establishing a precedent for renewable energy development.”

Huge thanks to our expert team, Tauhara North No.2 Trust and our collaboration partners: Victoria University of Wellington, Revolve Energy, Taspac, BYD Batteries, Clenergy, and EPC Energy. Together, we've created something that stands as "a symbol of responsibility and ingenuity" in sustainable development.
The project demonstrates that when vision meets expertise, we can create renewable energy solutions that not only perform but also inspire.
