What a difference a few years makes.
A lot of people don't realise PPP spent 60 years' operating out of our old site in Tuakau.
The buildings had plenty of history. Some dated back to the 1940s and had originally been chicken sheds. They did the job for a long time, but as PPP grew, we simply ran out of room. Stock was squeezed in wherever it would fit, engineering space was tight, and if it rained hard enough, you knew exactly where to put the buckets!
In 2022, we finally made the move to Pokeno. Below is a photo of Nick outside the old building after our final walkthrough.
As with most building projects, it didn't all go to plan. The new building wasn't quite finished when we moved in, so for a couple of months our stores and engineering teams operated out of a marquee while everything came together. Not glamorous, but we made it work.
Looking back now, it was worth every bit of the hassle.
We've got room to carry more stock, a much bigger engineering workshop, safer silo storage, easier truck access, proper staff facilities, a customer showroom, reliable fibre internet, and plenty of off-street parking. Even freight is easier now that we're no longer classed as a rural delivery.
The extra space has made a massive difference to how we work and has helped us keep growing while giving our customers a better service.
It's pretty special looking back at where we've come from. We are also excited about another building on the horizon for extra storage at the front of our property. The original PPP as we now call it, played a huge part in PPP's history, but we're stoked about what the future holds from our new home in Pokeno.
