UPDATE 1.10pm
Photo taken below of a crane on the way to the derailment in Kāpiti.
Grays Rd is still out of action and while Moonshine Road is open, avoid it if you can.
All sportsfields are closed, except for the Bernie Wood turf.
Heavy rain is expected throughout today, so surface flooding and slips are possible. Strong winds will remain all day.
Northbound trains continue to terminate at Plimmerton. Services are operating to a 30-minute timetable and are replaced by bus between Plimmerton and Waikanae.
SH1 is very congested, with Stop/Go in place near the slip, while Paekakariki Hill Rd could have delays due to slips. We've been told it is very slow going between Paekakakriki and Pukerua Bay - stopping up to 20 minutes at a time. Contractors are still cleaning up the slip.
Cranes are placed at Fisherman’s Table – getting ready to lift the train back on the tracks.
There continue to be long delays everywhere north of Porirua.
Travel safe out there!
