Built specifically to suit this remarkable classic timber boat.

Handcrafted by its owner over a period of 25 years, this is a boat with a story worth preserving.

Every custom trailer we build starts with getting the fit right. With the boat carefully positioned over the chassis, we fabricated and adjusted each support to match the hull. From the bow stop through to the rear supports, every component was built specifically for this boat.

The result is a lightweight aluminium trailer designed to support the hull correctly, tow with confidence, and complement the craftsmanship that’s gone into this incredible build.

It was a privilege to build a trailer for a project of this calibre. A big thank you to the owner for trusting Bays Engineering with such a special build.

From concept to transport.

This custom 10.8m × 4.0m tiny home chassis has now left our workshop and is on its way to begin its next chapter.

Built right here at Bays Engineering in Motueka, every stage of this project was completed in-house—from fabrication and welding through to final assembly and loading for transport.

A special mention to Stan, who has now fabricated more than 200 custom trailer chassis during his time at Bays Engineering. His experience, attention to detail, and pride in his work are reflected in every build that leaves our workshop.

A big thank you as well to the team at Alpha Precast for safely lifting and transporting the chassis to its next destination. It’s always great working alongside other local businesses to get the job done.

Custom Stainless Work for Tomahawk

A great project to see finished and out on the water.

We fabricated the custom stainless-steel frame supporting the new flybridge roof, built to suit the lines of the boat and provide a strong, clean structure for the new canopy.

From fabrication and TIG welding in the workshop through to the finished result — this is the kind of custom marine work we love seeing come together.

This Aqualite came into the workshop with significant damage to the bow and pontoons after a heavy impact.

The damaged sections were cut out and replaced with new aluminium, TIG welded back into place, and finished off with a new bow rail. The result is a strong, long-lasting repair that’s ready for its next chapter on the water.

Every repair is done with the same approach—no shortcuts, just quality workmanship built to last.

Another trailer freshened up and ready to go.

We gave this one a bit of love with a fresh coat of paint, new guards, new hubs, new LED lights and a new coupling.

It’s looking a whole lot better and is ready for plenty more trips to the boat ramp.
