Excavator Operator / Civil Construction – HT Contracting Ltd (Queenstown)

HT Contracting Ltd is a locally owned civil contracting company based in Queenstown, and we’re on the hunt for a skilled excavator operator to join our small, hardworking crew.

This role will primarily involve operating our new 5.5T excavator, but you’ll also work across machines ranging from 1.5T through to 20T depending on the job.

Our work includes a mix of civil construction, subdivision works, service trenching, road preparation, and general earthworks across the Queenstown area.

What we’re looking for

We’re after someone who can take pride in their work and help keep jobs running smoothly.

You should:

Have solid excavator operating experience

Be able to read and understand plans

Run your part of the job efficiently and with attention to detail

Be comfortable working in a small team or independently

Be reliable and motivated

Have a strong understanding of health and safety

Be willing to jump out of the cab and lend a hand on the ground when needed

Have the right to work in New Zealand

Tech on our machines

Our 5.5T excavator is fitted with Leica GPS machine control, so experience with GPS systems is a big advantage.
If you haven’t used it before, we’re happy to train the right person.

Licenses & tickets

These are beneficial but not essential:

Class 2 licence

Class 4 licence

WTR endorsements

The important stuff

Pre-employment drug test required

Random drug testing applies

Pay rates based on experience and skill

Contract or wages positions available
