šŸ’« MĀNAWATIA A MATARIKI šŸ’«

Matariki is a time to celebrate the year that has been and reconnect with your whānau. It is also a time to acknowledge our loved ones who have passed and honour their lives as we plan for the year ahead.

This morning we attended Te Umukohukohu at Motutara Point and are now heading out to the whānau day planned by Ngāti Hinekura 😊

Whatever you have planned for this weekend, we wish you a safe and happy Māori New Year ✨

Nā,
Te Whānau Chaney x

Our (not so) newest team member, Isaac, recently started his apprenticeship so we thought it was a good time for introductions.

We're grateful to have Isaac on board with us and look forward to continue working with him to achieve his goals in the building industry.

WE HAVE REDESIGNED OUR LOGO! 🤩

As some of you may know, we are a Māori family-owned pakihi and for a long time now we have wanted to redesign our tohu to strongly reflect that.

A huge mihi to Te Aotahi, Eli and the team at Ariki Creative - Digital Native Solutions who carefully designed our tohu, incorporating our thoughts and ideas. Kei runga noa atu koutou!

Here’s a very brief whakamarama of the different elements:

The whare speaks to the nature of our pakihi and connection to our traditional ways of building homes and whare. While the haehae patterns/linework depict our traditional wood carving it also symbolises manaakitanga which we always strive to uphold when working with others and our clients. The tāniko patterns below the whare symbolise our values and whakapapa - the foundation of which our pakihi is built on.

Again for us, this has been a long time coming and so we are super proud to share it with you all!

Tipene and I were invited to speak to Te Puni Kōkiri tonight about how the Government can support Māori businesses in the infrastructure, construction, ICT and health sectors.

While it was a great opportunity for us to speak about the challenges and experiences we face as a small Māori pākihi (business) in the construction industry, the highlight for us was sitting amongst successful Māori business owners’ with a wealth of knowledge and experience. We felt really privileged, and a little overwhelmed at first, being the youngest business owners around the table.

Hēoi anō, we are both looking forward to Te Puni Kōkiri’s response to some of the issues raised tonight and hopefully working alongside some of the business owners that we met tonight.

Here’s a couple of pics from tonight featuring our future CEO, our daughter Māreikura!

Jordan

Just a quick post to say thank you to everyone who applied for the apprenticeship position - it's awesome to see so many people, especially rangatahi, keen to get into the Building Industry 😁 unfortunately we could only take on one apprentice at this time but we will post on here if any new positions come up so keep your eyes peeled!

On another note, we are super excited to be working alongside our new apprentice! Hopefully he's up for a brief introduction on here over the next few weeks :)

We are very proud to announce that we are now an approved New Zealand Certified Builder 🄳

NZCB is an exclusive group of trade qualified builders and was created to protect homeowners from unethical practices and to promote excellence in building standards. NZCB is the only builder association in New Zealand with strict entry criteria where the minimum entry requirement for all members is a recognised industry trade qualification.

What does this mean for our clients? This means that you'll qualify to apply for a Halo 10-Year Residential Guarantee which protects you after the building process, and for the next 10 years. Here are some of its benefits:

- It adds value to your property
- It’s fully transferable if you decide to sell
- It helps finance your build, as many banks prefer that a guarantee be present
- It costs less than 1% of the total build cost to protect your biggest investment
- Provided the terms and conditions are met your Guarantee will cover it and we will step in to help you fix any agreed problems or pay you a cash settlement to enable you to do so

We are so excited to be a part of this organisation and can rest assured that our clients have peace of mind when working with us.

Build with real peace of mind - Building or renovating is a big deal. Find your NZCB builder online backed by a 10 year building guarantee.
