Here's a project we've been working on that had us scratching our heads in the best way.

This customer needed workspace and storage sorted, but they'd already purchased their compressor. Our job? Make it fit and make it work.

The compressor mounting was a tight squeeze – we're talking millimetres here – but we got it mounted externally and it's sitting exactly where it needs to be. The other curve ball was oil storage. Instead of going with our standard underdeck storage box, we integrated a proper oil storage tank for their used oil. Cleaner, more practical, and honestly, we think it looks pretty good too.

It's these kinds of projects that keep things interesting. You've got to balance what the customer needs with keeping the design clean and functional.

Can't wait to see these twins fully kitted out and doing the business on the road. 🛠️

Here's a good example of why we love custom work.
This customer knew the standard TRUCKBAC setup wouldn't quite do the job. They needed something more specific – storage that worked with their actual workflow, not against it.
So we did what we always do: listened, sketched out some ideas, and worked together to get it right. The result? A deck with lockable storage for the expensive gear, open compartments for the stuff they need to grab quickly, and a proper staircase for accessing the higher storage areas (because nobody should have to climb their truck like a jungle gym).
It's all about versatile storage that actually makes the workday smoother. Every tradie's setup is different, and that's exactly how it should be.

We built these bait stations with a rotary hinge mechanism that lets the cutting board swing open. Access your live tank whenever you need it, without disturbing your prep area.

We added four integrated rod holders, a drawer beneath the board, and even ran a cable conduit for anyone wanting to add a fish finder or screen down the track.

They're off to the powder coater and then heading out on the water soon.

Sometimes the best engineering comes from solving the small frustrations that add up over a long day of fishing.

Sometimes the best compliment is when a customer comes back a decade later.

This toolbox we built 10 years ago is still going strong. So when the owner wanted to add a UTEBAC deck to his ute, he didn't want to mess with what was already working. Fair enough.

We built him a custom-width deck with under-deck storage boxes that work around his existing setup. Marine-grade aluminium keeps it light but tough, and we reckon the black powder coat finish looks pretty sharp too.

It's always good to see our gear still doing the job years down the track. That's what we're here for.

It was a real pleasure to work with our customer on this meaningful project at Ōhinemutu, Rotorua. Orca was honoured to create the silhouette soldier and the signage for this beautiful memorial space. This installation stands as a tribute to the legacy of the fallen and offers a place for remembrance, reflection, and connection for the community. We're proud to have played a small part in something so significant. Kia maumahara tatou, Lest we forget.
