I managed to squeeze this small job in before the end of the year for a new tenancy in Papamoa alongside my main contract. It feels good to give new life and strength to tired structures like this one and bring them up to scratch in terms of building code.

Before and during our replacement of the Papamoa balcony deck.

The previous deck was poorly designed and didn't allow water to drain or ventilate properly, causing the kwila boards to rot and become unsafe.

We therefore redesigned the deck with bigger gaps between boards and lifted the new framing off the substrate using heavy-duty rot-proof packers.

Water can now flow out the drains with ease and keep our new deck in top condition for decades to come!

Tbt a pergola rebuild I did a couple of months ago. The original one was a flat, uncovered, and very tired-looking pergola.

The client wanted a more useable covered area, so I added a new pitch to the pergola and covered it with flat polycarbonate panels from Clearvue. These are a great alternative to glass as they are lightweight, easy to install, and much more cost-effective, while still keeping that sleek and simple glass look.

The client commissioned me to build a long built-in bench seat, partitions, and false beams for recessed lighting to maximise seating and light in what was a very dark basement space.
