When we think of ‘booms’, often oil spills and emergency containment situations come to mind. However, there’s another application that’s equally important but frequently overlooked: preventing the flow of rubbish and debris into our waterways.

Often referred to as “trashboom”, the products are a modified version of solid float boom designed to intercept and contain debris in rivers and waterways. Used by governments, NGOs and private organisations worldwide, trashbooms are engineered to keep our waters clean by capturing floating waste and debris before it reaches larger bodies of water.

The booms feature a solid float that sits on the surface of the water, creating a physical barrier to capture and contain debris. A modified skirt with a robust mesh panel allows cleared water to pass through, weighed down by a heavy chain pocket. Booms are held in place with anchor kits, attached to piles or tidal compensators.

This allows debris to be easily collected and removed, helping maintaining water quality and reducing the need for more extensive and costly cleanup efforts downstream.

It’s a great example of the diverse application of our products and the role they can play in supporting organisations to minimise environmental impacts on our rivers, lakes and waterways.

Stunning curtains being clear coated by the clever team in the factory recently.

Clear-coating gives a beautiful finish to curtains, adding depth and richness to your graphics. The process also protects against dust, debris and environmental pollutants meaning the graphics stay vibrant for the lifespan of the curtains.
