What a spot to work at! 🌊 With those views across the bay at Maraenui and some cracking weather rolling in, it’s hard to beat the location.

The team is making significant progress at Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Ngā Mokopuna, with concrete pours, steel reinforcement and framing progressing across the blocks. Roofing, exterior wraps and joinery are also coming together as the build takes shape.

Plenty happening on site, and not a bad view to take in while doing it.

A beautiful Wairarapa morning to celebrate the opening of Masterton District Council’s refurbished Queen Street offices.

The morning included a blessing and karakia with Rangitāne mana whenua, alongside Mayor Bex Johnson, to mark the opening of the refreshed space.

The refurbishment has created a fresh, calm and modern environment for Council staff to work and serve the Masterton community.

Working undercover 🥷

If you’ve been shopping at New World Carterton lately and haven’t noticed a thing… that’s exactly the point.

The Holmes Construction team have just wrapped up a major programme of work, carried out overnight so the supermarket could operate as usual during the day.

From ceiling to weather tightness repairs – a lot has been happening behind the scenes.

All while keeping business as usual for customers and staff.

A great example of careful planning, solid coordination and a team that knows how to work around a live environment.

Meet Chris Albertson - our new Commercial Manager.

Chris brings more than 20 years in the NZ construction industry. He started out on the tools as a carpentry apprentice, moved into quantity surveying and has since held senior commercial roles across some big and complex projects.

That mix of hands-on building experience and commercial know-how is a great fit for Holmes.

A massive welcome to Mel, who’s joined the Holmes crew as our new Health & Safety Advisor 👷‍♀️

Mel brings 16 years of construction experience across residential, commercial and civil, including the last 10 years focused solely on health and safety.

She's already out on site, getting stuck in and making things happen.

Great to have you on board, Mel. Welcome to the team! 👊

A big milestone at Greytown Orchards.

Last Friday, we celebrated the official opening of the new lodge at Greytown Orchards Retirement Village.

Residents and guests got their first look inside the new facility, which was officially blessed by local mana whenua of Papawai and ribbon cut by Dame Fran Wilde, Mayor of South Wairarapa.

Our team has been working across the villas through Stages 1 and 2, so completing the lodge - the central hub of the development - was a pretty special milestone.

And there’s something even better about handing it over on the date agreed at the very start of the project. Right on time, from day one to handover.

A great result for the Holmes team and everyone involved.

PROJECT KICK OFF

We're officially underway at the Cotton Building, Victoria University of Wellington.

Our team will be delivering seismic strengthening, roofing works, bathroom refurbishments and a range of upgrades that will help extend the life of this well-known campus building for years to come.

Built between 1976 and 1977, the Cotton Building has been part of the Kelburn campus for almost 50 years and is home to the School of Engineering and Computer Science. Named after renowned New Zealand geologist Charles Cotton, it's a building with a proud history - and we're proud to be playing a part in its next chapter.

We'll be sharing updates as the project progresses, so keep an eye on this space.

And that's a wrap…

Well actually, it’s just the beginning. Naenae College is getting a new roof, with four large buildings now wrapped and scaffolded, ready for the next stage.

We're proud to help keep New Zealand's school buildings safe, weathertight, and fit for learning - delivering the work with minimal disruption to staff and students.

Another great project to be part of, alongside the Ministry of Education.
