We recently finnished this 108.9kW system for our own District Council - Whakatane.

We were very pleased to have been selected, through a tender process, to provide the design and installation of this system as a local Eastern Bay of Plenty business.

The roof proved to be quite challenging and our team did well navigating some engineering challenges to safely and securely mount the 198 PV panels to the roof. Quite a game of Tetris.

Just in the nick of time before this nasty bit of weather hit.

We managed to load a couple of hundred panels up onto the staging platforms at the Whakatane District Council office building before the rain set in.
We are very pleased to have been selected, as a local company, to provide the design and installation of a 107kW grid-tied system for the Whakatane District Council.

Trust Horizon is supporting the project through its community financing initiative, offering a loan administered on its behalf by Community Finance.

Of the handful of Electrical Industry Associations I belong to, my absolute favourite is the Independent Electricty Generators Association. Its members contribute to about 10% of New Zealands electricity from more than 90 small local generation power stations. From small 250kW generation stations up to 40MW+, the members have varied generation plants from Hydro to Solar. Every year we have our AGM in a different part of NZ and we visit members generation assets. This year we were in Queenstown and visited the Roaring Meg hydro scheme, belonging to Pioneer Energy. A scheme that has been running since 1936. Not the oldest in NZ, but still a long running constant supplier of energy into our Grid. The same original components spinning away for nearly 90 years (with a little bit of love and care along the way in the form of maintenance) proving the quality of construction from Depression era NZ.

A beautiful Off-Grid System we installed this week in the hinterland of New Zealand between Waihi and Whangamata. With 40.8 kWhs of FranklinWh Lithium Iron Phosphate battery, 9.72kW of REC PV and a 8kW Fronius inverter there will be plenty of power to make a cup of tea or two. The FranklinWh gateway incorporates a generator connection and control plus full monitoring for a fully autonomous system. With 5kW of continuous power from each battery this system is able to deliver a whooping 15kW of energy and a peak of 30kW for 10 seconds. Water pumps, welders, table saws, no problem. The products we choose are backed by some of the best warranty's available in the industry for many years of peace of mind.

Great to see the beginning of these smaller Utility Scale Solar Farms coming online and feeding energy into our national grid. Pairing the daytime production of solar farms with New Zealand's hydro and wind production is going to greatly help work towards the reduction of burning gas and coal to fulfill our electricity consumption needs.

Solar power has now become the cheapest form of electricity generation in history and kiwis are taking advantage of it, putting solar panels on their rooftop...
