Its been a while since we've put a post up. Mainly due to the fact that our work load has been incredibly busy. Today we completed the Golden Row on the Galatea Solar Farm. A project that has taken many years to finally break ground on. Its an exciting project which is designed to incorporate the existing dairy farming along side with generating electricity. The tracking system has been designed to a height where the 10 hectares of paddocks covered by the solar panels can be grazed at night. The tracking system will park the panels at 0 degrees which will keep them out of reach of the cows and allow them to graze the pasture. The cows will be removed from the Solar Farm area before sunrise and the system will then automatically adjust the panels to track the sun during the day to optimise the full potential of generating electricity from the sun. The fulll amount of generated electricity will be injected into the local distribution network supplementing the local consumption needs.
The site will will have 4.7MW DC of PV panels and able to inject 3.6MW of AC power into the local network.
1 row down. 125 more to go.

We recently finnished this 108.9kW system for our own District Council - Whakatane.

We were very pleased to have been selected, through a tender process, to provide the design and installation of this system as a local Eastern Bay of Plenty business.

The roof proved to be quite challenging and our team did well navigating some engineering challenges to safely and securely mount the 198 PV panels to the roof. Quite a game of Tetris.

Just in the nick of time before this nasty bit of weather hit.

We managed to load a couple of hundred panels up onto the staging platforms at the Whakatane District Council office building before the rain set in.
We are very pleased to have been selected, as a local company, to provide the design and installation of a 107kW grid-tied system for the Whakatane District Council.

Trust Horizon is supporting the project through its community financing initiative, offering a loan administered on its behalf by Community Finance.

Of the handful of Electrical Industry Associations I belong to, my absolute favourite is the Independent Electricty Generators Association. Its members contribute to about 10% of New Zealands electricity from more than 90 small local generation power stations. From small 250kW generation stations up to 40MW+, the members have varied generation plants from Hydro to Solar. Every year we have our AGM in a different part of NZ and we visit members generation assets. This year we were in Queenstown and visited the Roaring Meg hydro scheme, belonging to Pioneer Energy. A scheme that has been running since 1936. Not the oldest in NZ, but still a long running constant supplier of energy into our Grid. The same original components spinning away for nearly 90 years (with a little bit of love and care along the way in the form of maintenance) proving the quality of construction from Depression era NZ.

A beautiful Off-Grid System we installed this week in the hinterland of New Zealand between Waihi and Whangamata. With 40.8 kWhs of FranklinWh Lithium Iron Phosphate battery, 9.72kW of REC PV and a 8kW Fronius inverter there will be plenty of power to make a cup of tea or two. The FranklinWh gateway incorporates a generator connection and control plus full monitoring for a fully autonomous system. With 5kW of continuous power from each battery this system is able to deliver a whooping 15kW of energy and a peak of 30kW for 10 seconds. Water pumps, welders, table saws, no problem. The products we choose are backed by some of the best warranty's available in the industry for many years of peace of mind.

Great to see the beginning of these smaller Utility Scale Solar Farms coming online and feeding energy into our national grid. Pairing the daytime production of solar farms with New Zealand's hydro and wind production is going to greatly help work towards the reduction of burning gas and coal to fulfill our electricity consumption needs.

Solar power has now become the cheapest form of electricity generation in history and kiwis are taking advantage of it, putting solar panels on their rooftop...

One of the most important parts of our work is the computer modelling we do of our systems and their expected production. Our modelling and design is bespoke for every customer and based on the needs and requirements for each customer. We don't sell set solar PV packages. We investigate the consumption at each site and design our systems accordingly. Be it a grid-tied for a home or a commercial/industrial system with complex energy fees, battery hybrid or fully off-grid systems , we model and design carefully to give ultimate results with the best products and warranties available on the market.

Its incredibly validating to our staff when we receive feedback from our clients such as this post from Trust Horizon. Especially when that client lives and breathes energy efficiency. We are extremely happy to have designed and installed a system that has delivered the results to the expectations of Trust Horizon and that they trusted us to provide the service to them.
May you enjoy many more years of savings and hopefully the upcoming years wont be as wet as the last one despite the great results.🌂🌂🌂

We have a hat-trick 🥳. For the third year in a row our team has been recognised for their outstanding workmanship at the REC Solar Australia & New Zealand industry awards in Sydney.

The quality of the products we use is very important to us and for our customers, so they have to be the best quality and have the best warranty.

Thank you REC, we feel honoured.

The Lake Rotorua Incentives Scheme motivated this client to retire his land from Dairy Farming to help reduce the nitrogen run-off levels into Lake Rotorua. The farm has now been divided up into Lifestyle Block sections and the, now ex-farmer, took the opportunity to choose a prime location on the land, with views of the lake, to situate their new home. The only problem with the location was the cost to connect to the electrical supply grid. We installed this 16.28kW REC array on a Clenergy ground mount system connected to a 10kVA Victron Energy inverter system with 16kWh's of BYD LiFePO4 battery.
We installed the system last year but, due to construction delays, the 3 bedroom, off-site built house, only just turned up last week.
The array has been installed to maximise energy from the morning and the afternoon sunlight, which is why the array has been split in two.
We were very happy to finally connect the house to the energy system today and bring life to a new home.
