We’ve taken a hit up here in Kaitaia with the latest weather event, with floodwaters reaching around 2 metres across our Salvation Army project site.
While it’s been a tough few days, moments like this reinforce why we put so much emphasis on thoughtful design from the outset. Through the planning process, we made a conscious decision to exceed minimum finished floor level requirements — ensuring the building is better protected for events like this and built for long-term resilience.
There’s a big clean-up effort ahead, but we’re grateful that everyone is safe and accounted for. We’ll be rolling up our sleeves and getting stuck in this week.
The show must go on.
