Feature stairs in commercial environments are rarely just about the stair.

On the BNZ project at 80 Queen Street, the brief was simple on paper, connect two levels.

In reality, it sat right in the middle of structure, finishes, compliance, sequencing, and live site constraints.

This is where these elements tend to come unstuck when they’re split across multiple trades. Small gaps in coordination turn into programme delays, cost creep, and compromises on the final result.

Our approach is to bring the entire scope under one package, resolving the junctions between base build and finished elements early, and delivering it as a coordinated outcome on site.

The result is a clean connection between levels that does exactly what it’s meant to do, without the noise that usually comes with it.

More of these opportunities are starting to show up across the CBD as buildings are repositioned and upgraded. Worth getting them right early.

Most commercial stairs are built to tick the compliance box.

The best ones are built for the people who use them.

How they move.
How they gather.
How the space feels.

A great stair doesn’t need to shout.
It just makes the whole building work better.

If a staircase is treated as an afterthought…
the whole home can feel like it.

The best homes are designed around the stair
not forced to work with one later.

That’s where real architectural impact comes from.

It’s not just how it looks.
It’s how everything flows around it.

This Thursday at 10 Limerick Lane in Queenstown we’re hosting an open day inside one of our recent four story hillside projects.

Alongside us will be two strong collaborators.
Leonie Hamill will be there to talk through the interior detailing she designed for the home, and Forté will be on site with some of their timber and interior finish options. It will be a solid opportunity to see how design intent, materials and engineering come together in a finished project.

It is a casual drop in between 10 AM and 2 PM with free coffee and food.
If you are working in architecture, building or interior design, this is one worth putting in your calendar.

DM to book in a walkthrough time.

We’re opening up one of our Queenstown projects on Thursday 27 November at 10 Limerick Lane, and you’re invited.

It’s a pretty epic home, spanning four storeys on the hillside with a few special staircases tying it all together. Hidden structure, LED under-tread lighting, warm timber and glass.

We’re running a casual drop-in from 10 AM to 2 PM with coffee, snacks, and a chance to have a proper nosey around. Come chat about the design, the engineering, and how it all came together.

Architects, builders, designers, homeowners, you’re all welcome.
If you want to lock in a time (or guarantee a coffee), DM me and I’ll book you in.

More details to come soon, keen to get a good bunch of people along for this one.
