🌱 PLANTING AN ALTERNATIVE CAN BE MORE POWERFUL THAN ERADICATING A PROBLEM.
In the VRAEM region, thousands of families make a living from working the land. However, for decades, many of them have had no profitable options beyond coca leaf cultivation, which has degraded the soil through the intensive use of chemicals, and most of that production ends up being used for illegal purposes.
At Agroindustrias Prodotti, we believe that real change begins with a sustainable, profitable, and easy-to-manage alternative. That is why we promote the cultivation of Barbasco (Lonchocarpus Nicou), a plant with a wide range of industrial uses, capable of generating long-term, sustainable economic opportunities for farmers in the VRAEM.
During 2025, we processed more than 1,500 tons of Barbasco, and over the years we have worked, we have positively impacted more than 2,000 families in the VRAEM. This model has increasingly helped several communities replace coca cultivation with legal and profitable farms, strengthening a formal and sustainable value chain.
In partnership with farmers from VRAEM, we keep promoting Barbasco cultivation and agricultural diversification, incorporating new cultivable species intended for export and further supporting the sustainable development of the VRAEM region.
