WBC&CWL SUPPORT PUBLIC SERVICES THROUGH THE EL NIÑO WATER RELIEF INITIATIVE

Wasu Building Construction & Civil Works Limited (WBC&CWL) is committed to supporting public services and local communities across the country.

WBC&CWL has assisted Public Services in Lower Poroma LLG, Nipa Kutubu District, Southern Highlands Province, over the week through our ongoing El Niño Water Relief Initiative.

As prolonged dry conditions continue to affect many parts of the country, access to clean and reliable water has become one of the most pressing challenges facing the people. Schools, health centres, churches, youth groups, and surrounding communities are experiencing significant water shortages that impact education, healthcare, community activities, and everyday living.

In response, our team has been delivering water and refilling storage tanks to help ensure that essential services can continue operating during this difficult period. Over the week, WBC&CWL has supported Primary & Agro Technical High Schools in the LLG. This initiative is designed to provide practical support where it is needed most, helping schools continue classes, assisting health centres in maintaining essential services, supporting churches in serving their congregations, and improving access to water for communities and young people.

We believe that responsible corporate leadership extends beyond the construction and civil works we do. It includes standing with our communities during times of hardship and contributing to initiatives that protect public wellbeing. Our water relief efforts reflect our commitment to community partnership, and sustainable development throughout Lower Poroma and the wider country.

Roma Health Centre Redevelopment Updates:

At Wasu Building Construction & Civil Works Ltd., we believe that every project is an opportunity to create value for communities across Papua New Guinea.

The Roma Health Centre Redevelopment Project, located in Roma, Yamil Tamui LLG, Maprik District, East Sepik Province, is one of our flagship healthcare infrastructure projects currently under construction.

Proudly delivered by Wasu Building Construction & Civil Works Ltd., the project is funded by Ok Tedi Mining Limited (OTML) under the Infrastructure Tax Credit Scheme and administered by the Office of National Planning and Monitoring (ONPM).
From initial site clearing and earthworks to structural construction, service installations, and finishing works, our team has managed every stage of this project with a strong commitment to quality, safety, and efficient project delivery. Through careful planning, technical coordination, and collaboration with project stakeholders, we have transformed an existing rural health post into a modern healthcare facility that will serve more than 200,000 people throughout Yamil Tamui LLG and neighbouring communities.

Phase 1: Our team has successfully delivered major infrastructure including:
• Modern Level 3 Health Centre with outpatient, examination, procedure and delivery facilities.
• High-set three-bedroom staff residence complete with white and brown goods.
• 12-bed ward building.
• Quality perimeter security fencing.
• Guard house and generator shed.
• Modern healthcare waste management system.
• Installation of a 66 kVA standby generator.
• Supply of a fully equipped ambulance to support emergency healthcare services.

Phase 2: Construction continues as WBC&CWL progresses into the next stage of development, which includes:
• Construction of four new high-set steel-framed staff houses.
• A dedicated 12-bed TB and HIV ward.
• Retaining walls, site landscaping, drainage, and internal access roads.
• Permanent security fencing with lighting.
• Medical waste incinerator.
• Bore water supply and water treatment system.
• Hospital laboratory with children's ward.
• Installation of additional medical equipment and clinical infrastructure.

Carpenter (3 Positions)
Key Responsibilities
• Construct, install, repair, and maintain timber and light steel building structures in accordance with approved drawings and specifications.
• Read, interpret, and work from architectural, structural, and construction drawings with minimal supervision.
• Perform framing, flooring, wall cladding, roofing, ceiling installation, door and window installation, finishing carpentry, and other general building works.
• Ensure all work is completed to the required quality standards, project specifications, and workplace health and safety requirements.
• Collaborate effectively with supervisors, engineers, and other trades to achieve project objectives and meet scheduled milestones.
• Manage workload efficiently and perform under pressure while maintaining high standards of safety and workmanship.
• Be flexible and willing to work across multiple project sites and travel to remote locations as required.
• Assist in planning daily work activities and proactively identify and resolve on-site construction issues.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean, safe, and serviceable condition.
• Demonstrate professionalism through reliability, punctuality, teamwork, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Minimum Requirements
• Recognised Trade Certificate in Carpentry from an accredited technical institution.
• Minimum of three (3) years' experience in residential or commercial building construction.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings.
• Experience in light steel framing will be an advantage.
• Sound knowledge of construction methods, tools, and workplace health and safety practices.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Physically fit and willing to work at remote project locations.
• Good communication skills and a positive work attitude.

Welder (1 Position)
Key Responsibilities
•Fabricate, assemble, and install steel components in accordance with project drawings and specifications.
•Perform Arc/MIG welding, cutting, and metal fabrication to a high standard.
•Maintain welding equipment and ensure safe work practices at all times.
•Assist with the installation of structural steel and associated construction activities.

Minimum Requirements
•Recognised Trade Certificate in Metal Fabrication and Welding or an equivalent qualification.
•Minimum of three (3) years' practical experience in welding and metal fabrication.
•Ability to read fabrication drawings and perform accurate measurements.
•Experience in Arc/MIG welding and structural steel fabrication.
•Strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
•Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

General Requirements (All Positions)
Successful applicants must:

•Be willing to work on a roster at Roma, East Sepik Province.
•Be reliable, punctual, self-motivated, and hardworking.

BONAHITAM - BOINAM ROAD PROJECT UPDATE: Wasu Building Construction & Civil Works Limited (WBC&CWL) continues to expand its footprint across PNG, taking its expertise beyond the Highlands Region to the coastal province of East Sepik. Through the values of integrity, accountability and commitment of the Company, we remain dedicated to delivering quality civil infrastructure that supports national development and improves the lives of rural communities.

We are proud to be undertaking the Bonahitam - Boinam Road Project, funded by the people of Yangoru-Saussia District under the leadership of Hon. Richard Maru, MP Minister for International Trade & Investment. We sincerely thank the DDA and the people of Yangoru-Saussia for the trust and confidence they have placed in WBC&CWL to deliver this important road infrastructure project.

The project is located along the Bonahitam - Boinam Road in West Yangoru LLG, an area with dense tropical rainforest, rugged terrain, jungle, heavy fog and challenging weather conditions. These conditions demand careful engineering, proper construction planning and disciplined project management to ensure work progresses safely and efficiently.

Despite these challenges, our construction team has made significant progress. To date, 8 km of the planned 12km road corridor has been successfully cleared and formed. Civil works, including site clearing, formation cutting, excavation and road alignment, are progressing steadily as we prepare the corridor for the next stages of construction.

Our experienced engineers, site supervisors, survey teams, machine operators and construction crews continue to work diligently to maintain project quality, safety and productivity. Every work is carried out in accordance with sound civil construction practices to ensure the road provides a durable and reliable transport link for years to come.

The Project is a vital investment in the future of West Yangoru. Once completed, the road will provide safer and more reliable access for surrounding communities, improve connectivity to schools, health facilities, local markets and government services, and support economic activities throughout the district.

PROJECT UPDATE: Kana - Kunjulu Road Construction (Phase I Completed)

Wasu Building Construction & Civil Works Limited (WBC&CWL) is pleased to provide an update on the Kana - Kunjulu Road Construction Project in Poroma LLG, Nipa Kutubu District, Southern Highlands Province.

This important road project is funded by the Department of National Planning and the Department of Works & Highways, in partnership with the Nipa Kutubu District Development Authority (NKDDA) under the leadership of Hon. BM W Joseph

Phase I has been successfully completed, with approximately 4 - 5 kilometres of fresh-cut bulk earthworks completed out of the planned 35-kilometre road corridor from the Kutubu Access Road towards Kunjulu. Our construction team worked through steep mountains, thick bush, rocky ground, and difficult weather conditions to open this first section of the road safely and to the required construction standards.

The Kana - Kunjulu Road is a development project that will directly benefit the people of Kunjulu Council Ward, home to more than 4,000 people across over 15 villages. The Ward also shares its border with Nembi Plateau LLG, making this road an important transport link for surrounding communities.

The road will improve access to essential services, including the local primary school, where teachers travel from outside the area to provide education, and the Aid Post, which provides basic healthcare services to the local population. Once completed, the road will make it easier for teachers, health workers, government officers, businesses, and the public to travel safely.

With Phase I completed, Phase II will continue the road towards Kunjulu. The next phase will include additional bulk earthworks, road formation, drainage construction, culvert installation, and gravelling to build a durable and all-weather road.

Project Update: Kondopa–Imane–Sugu Road Project

Wasu Building Construction & Civil Works Limited (WBC&CWL) is proud to be delivering this important road project, funded by the Kagua Erave District Development Authority (DDA). We sincerely thank the DDA and the people of Kagua Erave for placing its trust and confidence in our company to undertake this important development initiative for the people of the district.

The project is progressing well despite the many challenges faced during construction. Working through steep mountains, thick vegetation, difficult terrain and unpredictable weather has not been easy. However, our experienced engineers, supervisors, machine operators and construction crews have remained committed to completing the work safely and to the highest construction standards.

One of the greatest achievements of Phase I was successfully opening the fresh cut road from Kondopa to Imane Village. This milestone will always be remembered by our team and by the people who witnessed it.

When the first vehicle entered Imane Village, emotions filled the air. For many villagers, it was the first time in decades that a vehicle had reached their community. Men, women and children gathered along the roadside with excitement. Many could not hold back their tears. Traditional songs echoed through the valley as people danced with joy to celebrate a dream that had finally become reality.

That unforgettable moment serves everyone that roads are more than gravel, culverts and earthworks. Roads bring services closer to people. Roads connect children to schools, patients to health centres and farmers to markets. They create opportunities for business, improve access to government services and support economic growth in rural communities.

Construction work continues as the project moves into the next stage. Gravelling and culvert installation are currently progressing to strengthen the road and ensure it provides safe and reliable access for many years to come. Every stage of construction is carried out with careful planning, proper supervision and strict attention to quality.
