Advanced Life Skills training is underway for Lealea Village, Hiri West, where 20 participants are learning screen-printing techniques using traditional design templates. Their custom-printed fabrics are being tailored into meri blouses and men’s shirts.

We thank PNG fashion designer Anna Amos for sharing her expertise and supporting skills development in rural communities.

This initiative is helping build practical skills, confidence, and sustainable opportunities for the Hiri West community.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the success of the 9th Annual NiuPower Fiss-Potts Rugby 10s Charity Tournament, held at Sir John Guise Stadium over the weekend.

We extend our sincere congratulations to the Australian High Commission Papua New Guinea Dippo Hippos on exceptional team numbers, performance and on securing the 2026 championship title.

We also acknowledge the strong participation of our out of town contenders, including the Great White Sharks from Morobe and Kimbe Lusfruits from West New Britain, as well as all 15 men’s and women’s teams who competed with dedication, sportsmanship, and commitment to a worthy cause.

Funds raised from this charity event will go directly towards supporting patient care, facility improvements, and community mental health initiatives at Laloki Psychiatric Hospital.

NiuPower is proud to partner with the Port Moresby Fiss-Potts Rugby Club Inc. in promoting mental health awareness and strengthening community support in Papua New Guinea.

Thank you once again to everyone who helped make this event a meaningful celebration of rugby union, teamwork, and community impact.

NiuPower is pleased to support community initiatives within the Hiri West area including programs led by local churches.

This year, NiuPower donated goods to the United Church, West Redscar Circuit, in support of the 7th Bi-annual Council of the Children and Youth Ministry. The donated items were used to assist with hosting the council, which brought together children and youth from across Hiri West, including communities located within the Port Moresby Power Station footprint.

We are proud to contribute to initiatives that support youth engagement, community participation, and positive development in the areas where we operate.

" We're thankful for NiuPower for their sponsorship of the 2026 FissPotts Rugby 10s! As naming rights and platinum sponsor, NiuPower has partnered with us to raise funds for Laloki Psychiatric Hospital, supporting patient care, facility improvements, and community mental health initiatives.

Now in its ninth year, the tournament returns Saturday, August 15, at Sir John Guise Stadium, with 12 men's and 3 women's teams competing, including out-of-town sides Great White Sharks (Morobe) and Kimbe Lusfruits (West New Britain). Since 2015, FissPotts has raised funds for causes like Links of Hope PNG, PNG Children's Foundation, and children's hospital wards in Lae and Kimbe, last year alone raising K20,000.

The new library building at Boera Primary School has passed the 61% mark.

The roof is on and sealed. All wall frames are up, window and door openings are set, internal partitions are erected, and electrical rough-in is underway. From here it moves to ceilings, linings, external cladding, stairs, and the windows and doors.

The building is raised on a steel frame above the site, with three functional areas: a classroom space, a book collection area, and an office for the school.

Design and contract administration is by Tulait Consulting Architects, with construction by Kalova A1 Construction Ltd β€” both Papua New Guinean firms, with a PNG workforce on site.

NiuPower is funding the project through the Education and Life Skills pillar of our Community Investment Programme, and has supplied the rainwater tanks now delivered to site.

Boera is one of our five host villages. A library is a modest piece of infrastructure by the standards of the energy sector, but it is the kind that a community actually uses every day for decades.

More to come as it finishes later this year.
