On the occasion of 48th Independence Day of Papua New Guinea, every citizen of this great nation come together to celebrate in various ways displaying the rich cultural heritage we have inherited from our forefathers. 48 years ago, our fathers and forefathers were great warriors of their time. They stood tall in adverse currents of foreign invasion of the territory and got independence to protect and preserve the land which was just being discovered. Fast forward to this day, what a journey of 48 years! There has been many challenges. It is tempting to focus on the negative but let’s refocus on the positives this country can offer to its citizens and the world. We have more challenges ahead but this must not deter us from achieving our full potential as individuals and as a nation, and build a strong nation!
