ARC Nickel Resources Inc. through its Mine Environmental Protection and Enhancement Department (MEPED) conducted a Coastal Cleanup on May 12, 2023 along Jetty Port Coastal Area at Purok 6, Pintatagan, Banaybanay, Davao Oriental in celebration of the Month of the Ocean (MOO) 2023. This activity is in line with the company's Adopt - A - River Program. Through the support and simultaneous participation of the representatives from every department of ANRI, the activity was successfully executed.
The events with the theme "๐๐ช๐จ๐ฉ๐๐๐ฃ๐๐๐ก๐ฎ ๐๐๐๐ ๐ฉ๐๐ ๐๐ก๐ค๐๐๐ก ๐๐ค๐ฅ๐ช๐ก๐๐ฉ๐๐ค๐ฃ" aims to highlight the importance of conservation, protection, and sustainable management of the Philippine coastal and marine sources. It is celebrated annually every month of May by virtue of Presidential Proclamation No. 57, s. 1998.
Rapid changes to ecosystems may cause the displacement or loss of many species. The rising of temperatures increases the risk of irreversible loss of marine and coastal ecosystems. This threatens our food security and the livelihoods of coastal communities.
The activity focuses on the collection of rubbish (e.g., plastics, wrappers, sachets, worn-out clothes, diapers, soda bottles, cellophane, etc.), dry leaves, branches, and logs that pollute and impedes the growth and development of marine life.
The company takes part in honoring the celebration to sustainably feed the global population, where in the company guarantees that its effort in preserving the environment with the coherent to its production, we would give back to its surroundings and its people. Thus, we must take action to mitigate the effects of climate change, protection of ocean biodiversity to ensure a healthy and resilient ocean, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and transition to productive fishing practices.
