With hard hats placed upon their heads and pins proudly fastened to their uniforms, mechanical engineering students marked a defining milestone in their academic journey during the Hard Hatting and Pinning Ceremony.

More than a ceremonial tradition, the event symbolized years of late nights, rigorous problem-solving, and unwavering commitment to mastering the forces that shape our world. Each hard hat represented preparedness for the demanding technical challenges and complex environments ahead, while each pin served as a reflection of their engineering identity—a reminder of the analytical precision, safety, and ethical responsibilities they are expected to uphold as future builders of tomorrow.

As they stood alongside their peers, faculty, and loved ones, these students celebrated not only an achievement but also the beginning of a greater journey—one that calls for technological competence, relentless integrity, and impactful service to society.

We are launching a Free Printing Initiative specifically for ME students who need to print their manuscripts for Methods of Research, Thesis, and other academic manuscripts. Let’s get those hard copies ready!

𝗠𝗘 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗚𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗛𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀-𝗢𝗻 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀
Mechanical Engineering students enrolled in MEng 157: Mechanical Engineering Laboratory III conducted an educational facility visit to the Visayas State University - Isabel Campus (VSU-IC) Department of Mechanical Engineering on May 20, 2026. The visit aimed to bridge the gap between theoretical thermodynamics and actual industrial applications through direct exposure to thermal power equipment.

The primary objective of the visit was to provide students with crucial, hands-on experience in the startup, operation, and monitoring of an industrial Steam Generator (Boiler). During the session, students observed and participated in essential pre-firing checks, water level verifications, and safety valve testing. They gained insights into how water is treated and converted into high-pressure steam, learning how to manage the critical balance of fuel, air, and feed water to maintain system stability. Understanding these startup procedures is vital for ensuring operational safety, maximizing thermal efficiency, and preventing catastrophic boiler failures in real-world power plants and manufacturing industries.

𝐌𝐄 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐈𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐂𝐃𝐎 𝐓𝐨𝐮𝐫

Mechanical Engineering students taking 𝘔𝘌𝘯𝘨 158: 𝘔𝘢𝘯𝘶𝘧𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘐𝘯𝘥𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘪𝘢𝘭 𝘗𝘳𝘰𝘤𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘦𝘴 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘗𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘝𝘪𝘴𝘪𝘵 conducted an educational tour in 𝑪𝒂𝒈𝒂𝒚𝒂𝒏 𝒅𝒆 𝑶𝒓𝒐 𝒇𝒓𝒐𝒎 𝑨𝒑𝒓𝒊𝒍 13–17, 2026, visiting various industrial companies and universities to strengthen their knowledge of manufacturing, industrial operations, and engineering practices.

The students toured major companies including Gardenia Bakeries Philippines, Kirahon Solar Energy Corporation, Edison Machine Works Corporation, and Nature's Spring, where they observed production processes, machinery operations, renewable energy applications, and quality control systems.

The group also visited Xavier University – Ateneo de Cagayan College of Engineering, Capitol University, and University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines to gain insights into engineering education, laboratory facilities, and academic programs, providing students with valuable exposure to both industry and academe.
