FUEL WATCH UPDATE
Oil prices soared following reports of possible new US sanctions on Russian oil giants Rosneft and Lukoil, linked to the ongoing Russia–Ukraine conflict, according to the DOE’s Oil Industry Management Bureau.

DOE Assistant Director Rodela Romero said the unresolved tensions are raising geopolitical risks in the global oil market.

Recent optimism for a diplomatic resolution to the war in Ukraine has contributed to weaker global oil prices, according to DOE’s Bellas.
He noted that rising supply from China—driven by increased production from Chinese refiners—is also putting downward pressure on Asian diesel and gasoline benchmarks.
The final price adjustments, based on Friday’s trading results, will be announced today and implemented tomorrow, August 12, 2025.
