We are honored to support the EMB ROXIII celebration of the Month of the Ocean through the “Catalyst of the Deep: Youth Summit for Marine Advocacy,” held on May 20, 2026, bringing together the Sangguniang Kabataan Federation of Dinagat Islands, strengthening collaboration in advancing marine protection, environmental stewardship, and youth leadership.

The summit delivered a strong and unified message: empowered youth are not just future leaders, but present-day catalysts of change—essential partners in protecting our oceans and building a more sustainable future.

One of the key highlights of the program was the sharing of our company’s environmental best practices by Michelle Murray Sombong, Environmental Communications Supervisor of CMC. Her discussion emphasized the value of collective action in protecting natural resources and encouraged the youth participants to actively engage in environmental advocacy within their own communities.

We extend our sincere appreciation to our valued partners—EMB ROXIII, led by Engr. Dennis Celestial; Hon. Ruben J. “K-King” Zuniega, Municipal Mayor of San Jose, Dinagat Islands; and Hon. Kim Valeri A. Tampon, SK Federation President of San Jose—for their support in making this meaningful initiative possible.

Together, we remain committed to nurturing the next generation of environmental stewards and champions of sustainability.

In observance of the International Day for Biological Diversity, our MEPE Office team launched an interactive booth featuring a biodiversity trivia activity prepared by Mr. Ivan Palomo – CMC’s Biodiversity Management Specialist.

This initiative highlights the importance of continuously educating our employees and communities on the presence of wildlife within the CMC area and understanding its ecological indicators. Building this awareness is essential in strengthening our shared responsibility in protecting biodiversity and ensuring that any wildlife presence is properly observed, documented, and valued as part of a healthy ecosystem.

Through this activity, employees are also encouraged to report or inform the presence of wildlife observed within the CMC area, supporting our ongoing biodiversity monitoring efforts under the Annual Environmental Protection and Enhancement Program.

Participants also have the chance to win cash prizes or Kafe Silongan vouchers. In addition, each participation earns a stamp on the issued Wildlife Booklet, bringing them closer to receiving our 2026 IEC token wildlife collectibles.

Happy Mother's Day 🫶🏻

Today, we honor all the amazing mothers of CMC whose strength, love, and dedication continue to inspire our workplace and community everyday.

As a heartfelt gesture of appreciation this Mother's Day, we are giving flowers made from indigenous plants to our CMC moms. More than a simple gift, this meaningful initiative promotes awareness of native biodiversity while symbolizing the nurturing role of mothers in helping families and communities grow and thrive.

Just like indigenous plants that continue to flourish in their natural environment, mothers remain strong, caring, and life-giving through every season.

We wrapped up a coastal clean-up activity on May 8 at Brgy. Boa as part of the Month of the Ocean celebration this May, carrying the theme,"Sustaining Ocean Health, Sailing a Resilient Nation".

It was inspiring to see barangay officials led by Hon. Divine Eupena, residents, and volunteers came together with one shared goal- to help restore and protect our shoreline. The energy throughout the activity was genuine, with everyone simply doing their part and working side by side for the environment.

By the end of the activity, we were able to collect 216.96 kilograms of recyclable wastes from the coastal area. More than the numbers, the activity served as a reminder that small collective actions can create meaningful impact for our communities and our oceans.

Big thanks to everyone who showed up and took part. Moments like this prove that caring for our coastlines is not just a conversation - it is something we can achieve together.
