A Staircase That Feels More Like A Brutalist Sculpture Than A Way Upstairs.
At the National Theatre in Bucharest, this exposed concrete stair wraps around the building with a raw, almost mechanical rhythm — one of those architectural details that can easily outshine the façade itself.
Designed by Horia Maicu, Romeo Belea, and Nicolae Cucu, the theatre opened in 1973 and remains one of Bucharest’s most striking modernist landmarks.
