Not all hackers are the same.

In the world of cybersecurity, hackers are commonly classified into White Hat, Gray Hat, and Black Hat—each with different intentions, ethics, and impact.

🟢 White Hat hackers work to protect systems, identify vulnerabilities, and strengthen security—using their skills for defense and improvement.
🟡 Gray Hat hackers operate in between, often exposing weaknesses without malicious intent, but sometimes without permission.
🔴 Black Hat hackers exploit systems for personal gain, causing harm, data breaches, and security threats.

Understanding these roles helps us appreciate the importance of ethical hacking and proactive security measures in today’s digital world.
At GSS, we stand for responsible innovation, strong defenses, and using technology the right way. 🔐

Security Consultant under RA 11131 and RA 11917

A criminologist can practice as a consultant in any private security and investigation agency in the Philippines. This privilege given to criminologists is vested under RA 11131, otherwise known as "The Philippine Criminology Profession Act of 2018".

However, under RA 11917 (Private Security Services Industry Act of 2022), to become a security consultant, one must first obtain a license to exercise security profession (LESP). To obtain such license, one must: (a) pass the Security Consultant Course; and (b) must hold a Master's Degree and 2 years experience in security industry or a holder of bachelor's degree with 8 years experience in security industry.

Thus, the privilege granted under RA 11131 allowing criminologists to practice as security consultant is not automatic. One must first comply the minimum requirements such as the educational background and relevant experience provided by RA 11917.

"A large fraction of our workforce is eventually at risk of being left behind as AI and robotics continue to advance." - Martin Ford

In other Asian countries, like Taiwan (FoxLink) and Singapore (Kabam Robotics), they have invented a security robot that can perform jobs similar to a roving security guard. If this robot will be applied in the Philippines, many security guards will lose their jobs.

Is our security industry ready for this?
