The Mindanao Natural Language Processing R&D Laboratory is a DOST-PCIEERDโ€“funded research facility focused on developing advanced Natural Language Processing (NLP) tools, technologies, and digital language resources. With the increasing number of endangered languages, it is high time that we intensify research and development works that involve the collection, digitalization, storage, and dissemin

ation of language resources, as well as the development of task-specific trained applications. MinNa Laboratory has been generously funded by the Department of Science and Technology - Philippine Council for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development (DOST-PCIEERD) with high-end equipment to enable Mindanao NLP researchers conduct research works. The University of the Immaculate Conception serves as the implementing agency to advance these research works to its complete implementation and deployment.

Today, the Mindanao Natural Language Processing Research and Development Laboratory warmly welcomed our guests from the Matigsalug Indigenous Peoples Community of Brgy. Gumitan, Marilog District, Davao City, led by Brgy. Chairman Abonio Pandia, together with Ms. Rosalyn L. Ali and Datu Delfin Lumbinay Sr.

We were also honored to welcome Engr. Nelson Enano, Director of the Center for Renewable Energy and Appropriate Technologies, and Engr. Wendelyn D. Santander, Science Research Specialist II of the Department of Energy.

Their visit provided a meaningful opportunity for dialogue, collaboration, and the exchange of ideas toward initiatives that support community development, sustainability, and the meaningful inclusion of Indigenous communities in research and innovation.

We are grateful for their time, insights, and continued partnership with the University of the Immaculate Conception.
