PHILRECA welcomes signing of MOA between NEA and DOLE on Joint Capacity Building Program for ECs
The Philippine Rural Electric Cooperatives Association, Inc. (PHILRECA) welcomed the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement between the National Electrification Administration (NEA) and the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) on the Joint Capacity Building Program for Electric Cooperatives.
PHILRECA Executive Director and General Manager Atty. Janeene Depay-Colingan witnessed the ceremonial signing of the MOA between NEA and DOLE on Tuesday, August 13, held at the Occupational Safety and Health Center in Quezon City.
Signing the MOA on the Joint Capacity Building Program for Electric Cooperatives were NEA Administrator Antonio Mariano Almeda and DOLE Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma.
Under the MOA, both parties will conduct a Joint Capacity Building Program, which aims to educate the unions, members of the management and the Board of Directors of the ECs to negotiate their collective bargaining agreements.
"With this, we hope to empower our employees to determine fair and just employment terms, not only for the employees, but also to the ECs as institutions, and most importantly for the benefit of EC owners -- their member-consumer-owners as well," Almeda said.
"Let us not forget that aiming for tangible results and reaching new heights should never be at the expense of our employees' well-being, and of the Electric Cooperatives' financial capability and ability to deliver essential services to their consumers. Together, let us cultivate an environment that upholds and protects the rights and welfare of all employees, and one that promotes transparency, accountability and better service," the NEA Administrator added.
