The overall residential electricity rate for the billing period July 11 to August 10, 2026, increased by Php0.78 per kilowatt-hour (kWh), bringing the rate to Php13.09/kWh, from Php12.30/kWh in the previous billing period.
The increase was mainly driven by higher generation charges, particularly the higher cost of electricity purchased from the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM). Higher market prices were mainly due to the outage of several major power plants across the country. In addition, some generating facilities were affected by the magnitude 7.8 earthquake that struck Southern Mindanao on June 8, 2026, while others were undergoing scheduled maintenance or experienced forced outages. Together, these events reduced the available electricity supply while demand remained relatively high, resulting in tighter supply conditions and higher market prices.
We encourage our customers to continue practicing energy-efficient habits to help manage their electricity consumption and monthly bills.
