The Schools Division Office of Davao Occidental - Science Department proudly congratulates all the participants and winners of the Division Science, Technology & Mathematics Fair held last October 23–24, 2025 at Malita Central Elementary School.

Your dedication, innovation, and passion for excellence in the fields of Science, Technology, and Mathematics truly embody the spirit of discovery and lifelong learning!

A special recognition is given to our Regional Qualifiers — the Top 2 winners in each category — who will represent the Division of Davao Occidental in the upcoming Regional Science, Technology & Mathematics Fair.

Leadership is a trait they genuinely portray in their teachings. It is with great delight that we congratulate these three remarkable science teachers in the Division of Davao Occidental, Doc Jether Ortega , Sir Lester Gene Villegas Arevalo , and Sir Carlo S. Castillano, who have achieved a feat in their careers as teachers. These three are the personifications of dedication, determination, quality science education, and grit. They had served the division in various aspects, especially in terms of teacher training and learner development through coaching. Congratulations, teachers and soon-to-be Principals of your respective future schools, on passing the NQUESH 2024. Kudos, principals.

Hurray! 4 out of 6!
The Division Science Management Team recently completed the fourth batch of Division Roll-out Training on Manipulation of Science Laboratory Apparatus, Materials, Equipment and Ensuring Safety in the Laboratories. All secondary science teachers from Malita North, Malita South, Malita East, and Malita West Districts took part in the fourth batch. Dr. Irine Caballero Mahinay , EPS in Science, pointed out to the participants that they must empty their minds and be ready to learn new things while attending the workshop. She also extended her gratitude to Mariano Peralta National High School for the kind welcome and accommodations, particularly to the dynamic duo, Ma'am Hilda P. Renoblas, Principal II, and Sir Ervil Charles J. Millan, Principal I.
Every teacher-participant offered up their weekend to learn and relearn Science core concepts while using laboratory apparatus and equipment. The training assisted teachers in going outside their comfort zone when it comes to teaching Science. Eleven teachers were also given the opportunity to demonstrate their competence through demonstration teaching in the field of Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. Finally, before the training concluded, everyone displayed their competitive side by participating in the exciting AGHAMAZING Race, in which their knowledge and skills was assessed by performing several tasks.
All Science teachers will return to their respective schools with a wealth of new knowledge and concepts for teaching Science. The Science Department hopes to see them apply their newly acquired skills in the classroom and become excellent 21st century Science educators.

The Schools Division of Davao Occidental concluded the 2023 Division Festival of Talents in Science with the competition, STEM Processes and Practice Exhibition, in which learner-participants are expected to apply science and mathematics thinking skills to solve problems with local, national, and global implications.
It was held in Malita Central Elementary School, with the cooperation of the school's principal, Maam Ermilinda M. Orida, and the unwavering efforts of the program's proprietors, Dr. Irine Caballero Mahinay as Education Program Supervisor in Science and Sir Romeo as Education Program Supervisor in Mathematics.
All contenders faced stiff competition. Participants were given three hours to develop their research proposal, and they were all successful in defending their outputs during the deliberation. As the process gets rougher, each learner's determination, will, and persistence shine through, which will be crucial in helping them reach the top rank. And, as the adage goes, "experience is the greatest prize."
Heracleo Casco Memorial National High School STE and STEM students were hailed as the event's winners, and they will represent our Division at the Regional Festival of Talents in Digos City.
Congratulations to all of the winners, participants, coaches, judges, and members of the technical working group for an exceptional event.
