Empowering learners through Science, Technology, and Innovation!

DOST Davao Occidental, represented by Ms. Just D. Magallanes, Senior Science Research Specialist, and Engr. Jowin Jeeh S. Coscos, Science Research Specialist I, convened with DepEd Davao Occidental, headed by SDS Rommel R. Jandayan, EdD, CESO V, together with EPS in Science Irine C. Mahinay, to strengthen collaboration for the upcoming Regional Science, Technology, and Innovation Week 2026.

Set on September 1–2, 2026, at SPAMAST Main Campus, Malita, the RSTW 2026 celebration will bring exciting and meaningful STI experiences closer to learners and communities through the Mobile Planetarium, RoboWheels, NuLab: STEM in Motion, VISSER training, Basic Electronics and Robotics training, and Food Technology and Processing Center exhibit.

Through this partnership, DOST and DepEd continue to inspire curiosity, innovation, and future-ready skills among learners—building a smarter, more resilient, and science-driven Davao Occidental.

Day 4 of the Training on the Revised Grade 10 Science Curriculum featured productive and engaging learning sessions through Workshop 2: Lesson Simulation, with Aaron Joseph Paña (Aaron Joseph A. Paña) serving as the simulator and Catherine Garay and Shenna May Roa as process observers. Their meaningful participation provided valuable insights on effective lesson delivery, classroom strategies, and the practical application of the revised Science curriculum.

The training continued with Workshop 3: Work Action Plan, facilitated by Sir Nelboy Lutang, where participants developed concrete plans for implementing the curriculum in their respective schools.

A short closing program was made more meaningful through the impression shared by Sir Herminigildo Dela Cruz (Herminigildo Cabalquinto Dela Cruz III) and the challenge given by Ma’am Irine Mahinay (Irine Caballero) to inspire Science teachers to remain committed, innovative, and responsive to learners’ needs. Sincere thanks are extended to the facilitators and to all active participants for their dedication, cooperation, and contribution to the success of the training.

Day 3 Training Highlights Effective Teaching and Assessment
General Santos City - Day 3 of the Training on the Revised Grade 10 Science Curriculum focused on improving classroom instruction and learner assessment.
In Session 4, Ma'am Mary Joy Octura (Bajoy Mulit Octura) discussed Determining Appropriate Teaching Strategies for Optimal Learning, emphasizing learner-centered, engaging, and effective strategies in teaching Science.
In Session 5, Ma'am Marilyn Escarillas (Marilyn Escarilla) led the discussion on Assessment, highlighting the importance of using appropriate tools to measure learners’ understanding, skills, and progress.
The sessions helped teachers strengthen their readiness to implement the revised curriculum effectively.

Day 2 of the Division Training on the Revised Grades 6, 9, and 10 Curriculum was a blend of critical depth and lighthearted fun. Through mapping and unpacking, guided by Ma’am Rizalie Coyoca and Ma’am Jessa Diez, the Science Team showed how even the toughest concepts can be tackled with energy, clarity, and joy.
