The workshop emphasized hands-on troubleshooting activities that enabled teacher-participants from seven (7) public high schools to identify common FDM printer issues, determine their possible causes, and apply appropriate corrective measures. Through guided exercises, they gained practical experience in inspecting components, addressing hardware-related concerns, and performing basic maintenance.

Engr. John Dominique S. Bayate of DOST NegOr PSTO served as the resource person and guided the participants throughout the diagnostic and troubleshooting sessions. The practical approach aimed to strengthen their technical competence and build their confidence in independently resolving common printer problems.

The activity forms part of continuing efforts to support teachers in implementing the new curriculum, which includes additive manufacturing concepts at the Grade 7 level. It also contributes to maximizing the use and extending the service life of the 3D printers available in participating schools, enabling teachers to better guide students in designing, building, and prototyping projects for classroom instruction, research, and innovation.

BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental โ€” The Department of Science and Technology Negros Oriental Provincial Science and Technology Office (DOST NegOr PSTO), represented by OIC Provincial S&T Director Engr. Joel O. Legaspi, joined the 2026 Startup Grant Fund (SGF) Bootcamp โ€“ Negros Island Region Leg on July 1, 2026, in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental.

The bootcamp gathered startup founders, innovators, mentors, and ecosystem partners from across the region to strengthen technology-based startup proposals and support their readiness for possible funding under the DOST Startup Grant Fund. The activity provided a platform for participants to refine their solutions, improve their pitch decks, and receive guidance on the technical and administrative requirements of the SGF program.

Also participating from Negros Oriental was Ms. Jessa Rose Plarisan of Kaguro.ph, a homegrown education-focused startup. Her participation reflects the growing involvement of Negros Oriental innovators in regional startup activities and the continuing effort to connect local startups with mentorship, funding opportunities, and ecosystem support.

The Department of Science and Technology Negros Oriental Provincial Science and Technology Office (DOST NegOr PSTO) conducted a Food Safety Training for Santa Catalina Tolong Milling Corporation on June 30, 2026, with 63 participants involved in sugar production.

The training aimed to strengthen the participantsโ€™ understanding of proper food safety practices, personal hygiene, sanitation, disease control, and contamination prevention within a food manufacturing facility. As personnel directly engaged in the production of sugar, the participants were reminded of their important role in maintaining product safety, cleanliness, and quality throughout the production process.

The training covered key food safety practices, including good manufacturing practices, personal hygiene, sanitation, proper handwashing, appropriate use of personal protective equipment, control of personal items and jewelry, wound protection, disease control, and contamination prevention. Through this activity, DOST NegOr PSTO continues to support local food manufacturers by providing science-based technical assistance that promotes safer production practices, improved compliance, and stronger consumer protection.
