In construction, Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and Risk Assessment (RA) are both essential tools for managing workplace safety, but they differ in both scope and detail.

JSA is a task-specific process that breaks down a particular job into individual steps to identify potential hazards and implement control measures for each action. It is typically conducted right before a task is performed, making it highly focused and practical for frontline workers.

In contrast, RA provides a broader evaluation of potential hazards associated with an entire project, process, or work environment. It is usually carried out during the planning stages to assess overall risks, such as structural integrity, environmental conditions, or multiple overlapping tasks.

While both aim to prevent accidents, JSA is hands-on; RA is strategic.
