When Typhoon Tino struck Negros Occidental under Signal No. 4, it brought with it heavy rains, fierce winds, and widespread devastation. Homes were destroyed, communities displaced, and lives were shaken. But amidst the stormโ€™s aftermath, one thing remained unbroken โ€” the Bayanihan spirit of the Filipino people.

๐—ฃ๐—”๐—š๐—•๐—œ๐—ก๐—จ๐—Ÿ๐—œ๐—š๐—”๐—ฌ โ€” an initiative anchored in compassion and science-based action โ€” became a symbol of hope for our brothers and sisters affected by the calamity. Through feeding programs, distribution of potable water, rice meals for lunch and dinner, clothing donations, and many more, the people of Negros Occidental once again proved that unity can heal and rebuild. This initiative was spearheaded by the Philippine Society of Youth Science Clubs (PSYSC) Regional Council 6, in collaboration with the Society of Young Scientist, Supreme Student Learner Government (SSLG) and the Herodotus Club of Doรฑa Hortencia Salas Benedicto National High School โ€“ Junior and Senior High.

More than relief, this action embodied the mission of PUSTE (Public Understanding of Science, Technology, and Environment) โ€” highlighting how science awareness, environmental responsibility, and community action work hand in hand during disaster response. Through every meal served and every donation shared, we witnessed how science can move hearts, and hearts can move mountains. ๐ŸŒ๐Ÿค
