Looking back at this milestone from last year, we see the real-world impact of what our 𝐍³ 𝐈𝐧𝐜𝐮𝐛𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦 aims to achieve.

One year ago, our incubatee, PackUp, took our ecosystem's mission to the national stage at GrowthCon PH 2025 of The Business Manual. Competing against top-tier institutions from Metro Manila, they stood out as the only university finalist from the regions to break into the Top 5 nationwide.

Led by Matt Rafael Genito and Jed Matthew Mamosto, the team proved that combining AI with packaging and software engineering can build real, scalable solutions for MSMEs.

This achievement stands as a proud product of the foundations we build here. Celebrating past milestones drives us to nurture even bigger ones today. At CPUGAD TBI, we continue to support our founders as they push boundaries, disrupt industries, and represent Western Visayas on the national stage.

On June 10, 2025, at the Samsung Hall of SM Aura, PackUp's CEO, 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝘁 𝗥𝗮𝗳𝗮𝗲𝗹 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗼 (BS Packaging Engineering 3), and CTO, 𝗝𝗲𝗱 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘄 𝗠𝗮𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗼 (BS Software Engineering 3), represented the team.

Before an audience of over 500 esteemed business and thought leaders, including key investors and Venture Capitalists, PackUp pitched "𝗛𝗶𝗺𝗼 𝗯𝘆 𝗣𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗨𝗽"—an AI Packaging partner designed to tackle critical MSME challenges. This momentous event saw PackUp, from Central Philippine University - CPU, compete against prestigious institutions like UP Diliman, DLSU, AIM, Mapua University, and ADMU. DOST-CPU CPUGAD TBI had the privilege of welcoming Coherent Laser Enterprises Philippines for a productive discussion on potential partnership opportunities in research, innovation, and technology development.

The engagement was led by CPU President Rev. Dr. Ernest Howard B. Dagohoy and Vice President for Research, Development, and Extension Dr. Aries Roda Romallosa, underscoring the University's commitment to strengthening industry-academe collaboration and advancing innovation-driven growth.

Discussions highlighted opportunities to leverage Central Philippine University's research capabilities, laboratory facilities, and talent pool to support technology validation, application-driven research, and workforce development—key factors in accelerating technology adoption and commercialization.

For Central Philippine University, this potential collaboration aligns with ongoing efforts to expand research and laboratory infrastructure, strengthen technology transfer initiatives, and foster a thriving innovation ecosystem.

Bridging regional innovation with global startup ecosystems, the DOST-CPU CPUGAD TBI team recently conducted a benchmarking visit to leading innovation hubs in Metro Manila.

Led by Project Leader Engr. Gelvie C. Lagos, General Manager Mark Gil D. Peraman, and Investments and Networking Unit Head Mr. Renjo B. D***l, the delegation visited Plug & Play Manila and LaunchGarage Innovation Hub in Quezon City. 🚀

The initiative focuses on strengthening CPUGAD TBI’s incubation capabilities through insights from world-class accelerator and corporate innovation models. Key discussions centered on onboarding global mentors for CPUGAD startups, co-organizing capacity-building workshops, and exploring cross-border partnership opportunities.

The visit also provided valuable insights into startup acceleration, mentorship programs, and access to funding and venture capital networks. These learnings will help inform CPUGAD TBI’s ongoing efforts to strengthen pathways for startups, spin-offs, and innovation-driven enterprises to access grants, investments, venture capital, angel investors, and other financing mechanisms necessary for growth, commercialization, and market expansion.

Advancing its mission to support agri-innovation and startup development, DOST–CPU CPUGAD TBI joined as a partner in the 𝗔𝗚𝗥𝗜-𝗧𝗘𝗖𝗛 𝗚𝗥𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗣𝗥𝗜𝗫 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 (𝗔𝗧𝗚𝗣𝗛 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲), the first agriculture-focused TECH PLANTER program held outside Japan and organized by Leave a Nest Philippines.

The delegation was composed of Project Leader Engr. Gelvie C. Lagos, General Manager Mark Gil D. Peraman, and Head of Investments and Networking Unit Mr. Renjo B. D***l, who represented CPUGAD TBI in the event.

ATGPH 2026 gathered researchers, startups, industry leaders, and ecosystem partners showcasing science-based solutions for agriculture. The program highlighted key challenges in food security, productivity, sustainability, and value chain development, while providing a platform for pitching, mentorship, and collaboration. Finalist teams presented their innovations before a panel of industry experts, investors, and ecosystem partners, followed by discussions on potential support and development pathways.

CPUGAD TBI General Manager Mr. Mark Gil D. Peraman also served as a panelist during the session “𝙍𝙚𝙨𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙘𝙝 𝙩𝙤 𝙍𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙣𝙪𝙚: 𝙃𝙤𝙬 𝙁𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙥𝙞𝙣𝙤 𝘼𝙜𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙚𝙘𝙝 𝙎𝙩𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙪𝙥𝙨 𝘾𝙖𝙣 𝘽𝙪𝙞𝙡𝙙 𝘽𝙪𝙨𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝙈𝙤𝙙𝙚𝙡𝙨 𝙏𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙎𝙘𝙖𝙡𝙚.” The discussion focused on bridging the gap between research and commercialization, highlighting key challenges in scaling agritech innovations and identifying practical pathways for startups to transition from prototypes to sustainable, revenue-generating ventures in the Philippine agricultural context.

A key highlight of the program was the recognition of outstanding agri-tech innovations. 𝗣𝗮𝗸𝗨𝗔𝗻, a team from the University of Antique, emerged as the 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗪𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗿 of the AGRI-TECH GRAND PRIX Philippines 2026, receiving a cash prize of PHP 30,000 for 𝗪𝗮𝗺𝗣𝗼𝘄 (𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗻 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗱𝗲𝗿), a technology that converts watermelon waste into a natural food additive and preservative.

CPUGAD TBI also presented the 𝗖𝗣𝗨𝗚𝗔𝗗 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱—providing startup development support to help accelerate technology and business growth—to 𝗣𝗮𝗸𝗨𝗔𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗞𝗮𝗽𝗲 𝗟𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗱. The award recognized PakUAn’s strong potential for development and impact in the agri-food sector, and Kape Lumad’s promising work in supporting sustainable coffee development and empowering local agricultural communities.

Through ATGPH 2026 and its partnership with Leave a Nest Philippines, CPUGAD TBI expands opportunities for its incubatees by connecting them to national networks, expert mentors, funding pathways, and potential commercialization channels. This collaboration further strengthens CPUGAD TBI’s role in the innovation ecosystem by supporting researchers and technopreneurs, fostering collaboration opportunities, and advancing pathways for technology commercialization and startup growth in the agriculture and food sector, with a continued focus on integrating ICT-enabled solutions in agri-food innovation. 🌾✨

DOST-CPU CPUGAD TBI and PackUp took part in the national innovation dialogue during the 𝗞𝗻𝗼𝘄𝗹𝗲𝗱𝗴𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝘂𝗳𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗫 𝗦𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁 (𝗞𝗠𝗟𝘅) and the 𝟱𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝗻𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗮 𝗡𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀 held in Ortigas Center, Pasig City.

Representing the Centralian innovation ecosystem were CPUGAD TBI Project Leader Engr. Gelvie C. Lagos, General Manager Mr. Mark Gil D. Peraman, Head of Investments and Networking Unit Mr. Renjo B. D***l, and PackUp CEO Mr. Matt Rafael Genito.

The event marked two key milestones: celebrating five years of local ecosystem building under the theme "5𝘵𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘨𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘉𝘰𝘯𝘥𝘴 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘢 𝘏𝘪𝘨𝘩 𝘍𝘪𝘷𝘦," and the Philippine debut of the KMLx Summit. Previously hosted only in Japan and Malaysia, this inaugural Philippine staging brought Leave a Nest's global "Knowledge Manufacturing" blueprint directly to local enablers, focusing on generating deep-tech concepts and cultivating the next generation of societal leaders.

Driving the conversation during the premier "Regions and Development" Roundtable Discussion, CPUGAD TBI General Manager Mark Gil D. Peraman and PackUp CEO Matt Rafael Genito joined key industry leaders on the panel. Together, they engaged in a focused discussion on the current state of innovation across Philippine regions. The panel examined key grassroots challenges such as gaps in local infrastructure and resource accessibility, while also highlighting opportunities and support mechanisms that can help strengthen and accelerate regional startup development.

Through these discussions, the CPUGAD TBI delegation contributed to ongoing conversations on strengthening linkages between local innovators and national networks, supporting pathways for mentorship, collaboration, and potential market access for emerging ventures in the region.

DOST-CPU CPUGAD TBI is honored to be part of the 2nd ICT International Research Conference 2026 of Iloilo State University of Fisheries Science and Technology (ISUFST) – Di**le Campus, held in line with its CICT Week celebration under the theme, “𝘈𝘐: 𝘉𝘦𝘺𝘰𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘊𝘰𝘥𝘦 – 𝘐𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘭𝘭𝘪𝘨𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘐𝘯𝘯𝘰𝘷𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘕𝘦𝘹𝘵 𝘌𝘳𝘢.”

As part of the conference, CPUGAD TBI Manager Mark Gil D. Peraman served as a resource speaker and delivered his lecture, “𝘛𝘦𝘤𝘩𝘯𝘰𝘭𝘰𝘨𝘺 𝘉𝘶𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘐𝘯𝘤𝘶𝘣𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯: 𝘋𝘳𝘪𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘐𝘯𝘯𝘰𝘷𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯, 𝘊𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘦𝘳𝘤𝘪𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘻𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘌𝘯𝘵𝘳𝘦𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘶𝘳𝘪𝘢𝘭 𝘎𝘳𝘰𝘸𝘵𝘩.”

The session emphasized the critical role of universities as catalysts for innovation, talent development, and regional economic growth. It highlighted how strong collaboration among academe, industry, and government creates a thriving innovation ecosystem where research and ideas can be transformed into impactful startups and solutions. Participants also gained insights into the value of university-based Technology Business Incubators and the pathway from research and innovation to entrepreneurship through CPUGAD TBI.
