CIA-FRIMP STRUCTURAL PROGRESS UPDATE | FEBRUARY 2026 🏗️

The Cavite Industrial Area Flood Risk Management Project (CIA-FRIMP) continued to achieve steady construction progress across multiple contract packages in February 2026. Under CP1, hat-H pile driving works were conducted along Sta. 1+940 to Sta. 1+880 at the left bank of the San Juan Diversion Channel, supporting the development of key flood control structures. For CP2, concrete pouring for Base Concrete Type B at Sta. 0+110 to Sta. 0+120 (left bank) was carried out to strengthen channel foundation works.

CP3 continued its revetment protection activities with the installation of weepholes for Revetment Type A across several sections of the right bank to enhance drainage and slope stability. Meanwhile, CP4 conducted reinforced steel bar installation for the base slab at Sta. 1+990 to Sta. 2+000, ensuring structural quality and compliance with project standards. In addition, a JICA site inspection was conducted at the Resettlement Site to monitor project progress and implementation.

These activities demonstrate CIA-FRIMP’s sustained commitment to strengthening flood protection systems and building safer, more resilient communities in Cavite. 💪🏗️

☁️ WEATHER UPDATE 🌦️

Expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains in Metro Manila from Tuesday to Thursday (Mar 10–12, 2026) due to the Northeast Monsoon.

Temperatures will range from 24°–29°C during this period. No significant weather impacts are expected, but brief light rain showers may occur at times.

Meanwhile, Visayas, Mindanao, and Masbate may experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms caused by the Trough of a Low Pressure Area (LPA), which could bring possible flash floods or landslides during moderate to at times heavy rains.

Residents are still advised to stay alert for sudden weather changes and bring rain protection when going outside. Stay tuned for the latest weather updates.

DID YOU KNOW?!

Flood risk management isn’t only about building structures and disseminating information, it’s also about empowering the people and systems behind them.

Watch one of CIA-FRIMP’s initiatives in action! The Geographic Information System (GIS) Training, conducted for LGU personnel, DRRM Officers, and DPWH Engineers to enhance flood risk mapping and data-driven planning, features Engr. Francis Funa, Geodetic Engineer / GIS Expert, and Ar. John Edward Kanda, Architect / Environmental Planner of Kawit, who share hands-on, software-based experience. The training also ensures accurate hazard mapping, risk assessment, and informed decision-making, helping support sustainable flood mitigation efforts.

By building technical skills and strengthening coordination among agencies, this initiative contributes to a more resilient and disaster-ready Cavite. 🇵🇭🏘️

DID YOU KNOW?!

Managing floods isn’t just about the big dikes and bridges you see being built. 🏗️

While the CIA-FRIMP structural measures (like our dikes and bridges) do the heavy lifting, our Non-Structural Measures—like this IEC Campaign—are here to empower you. Because a safer Cavite depends on all of us being prepared.

Listen to Ms. Shino Yamauchi from JICA as she explains the heart behind our mission to create a disaster-ready province. 🇵🇭🇯🇵

Let’s build a resilient Cavite, together! 🛡️🏘️

WATCH: CaviTV features the CIA-FRIMP Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) on Disaster Education for Flood with 3D City Model and Minecraft, held at Luis Olimpo Ferrer Senior National High School (LOFSNHS) in General Trias City, Cavite, last November 26–27, 2025.

The feature highlights how the activity, conducted in partnership with DPWH, JICA, the Local Government Unit of General Trias City, Cavite, and education stakeholders, empowered students through interactive disaster education using 3D city models and Minecraft to better understand flood risks, preparedness, and community resilience.

The highlight of the program was the interactive lecture and hands-on training on Disaster Education for Flood using 3D City Models with Minecraft, conducted by Japanese experts Mr. Keisuke Ono and Mr. Mutsuki Kodama from the Tohoku Institute of Technology, Sendai, Japan. More than 160 Grade 7 students actively participated, making learning both engaging and meaningful, and marking an important step toward building a safer and more disaster-resilient community.

The students were also introduced to the flood mitigation measures of the CIA-FRIMP, including both the structural and non-structural approaches being implemented.

Stay tuned as efforts continue to promote flood awareness and build safer, more disaster-resilient communities in Cavite.
