Many homeowners think that building a taller tank guarantees stronger water pressure. But the real answer lies in understanding static head vs actual net pressure at the faucet.

𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲 (𝗡𝗼 𝗙𝗹𝗼𝘄)
At 6 meters tank height:
→ Pressure from gravity = 𝟴.𝟱 𝗽𝘀𝗶 (𝟱𝟴.𝟴 𝗸𝗣𝗮)
→ This is the 𝗺𝗮𝘅𝗶𝗺𝘂𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗼𝗿𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲 when there’s no water flowing.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗛𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗻𝘀 𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝗮𝘂𝗰𝗲𝘁?
Water pressure drops due to:
• Friction in the pipe
• Losses from elbows, tees, valves
• Vertical lift (if serving second floor or elevated fixtures)

𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗟𝗼𝘀𝘀 𝗘𝘅𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲 (𝗨𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗛𝗮𝘇𝗲𝗻-𝗪𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗺𝘀):

• 10 meters of ½″ PVC pipe
• 5 GPM flow rate
• 4 elbows and 1 tee (adds ~4 meters equivalent length)

𝗘𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗹𝗼𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀:
• Pipe friction loss: ~𝟬.𝟱𝟰 𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀
• Fittings loss: ~𝟬.𝟱𝟳 𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀
• 𝗧𝗼𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗹𝗼𝘀𝘀: ~𝟭.𝟭 𝗺
