In order to combat the effects of climate change, Taiwan is urging cities all over the world to take the initiative to promote investments in renewable energy.

This occurs when the administration of the island is putting regulations into place to cut greenhouse gas emissions and switch to more ecologically friendly energy sources.

Located off the coast of Denmark, Vindeby Offshore Wind Farm is the first offshore wind farm in the history of the globe. It was built in 1991 and had 11 turbines totaling 5 megawatts of capacity, which could power about 2,200 homes. Negros Island has a total of 155.6 megawatts (MW) committed power projects and 1,231.7 MW indicated power projects. Initiatives are already emerging in Negros Occidental, ranging from solar energy in Silay City to ground-breaking battery energy storage in Murcia and San Carlos City, as well as biomass energy in Victorias City and geothermal energy in Bago City.

Indicative plans show that the municipality of Calatrava and the cities of Victorias, Bacolod, Cadiz, and Silay will be powered entirely by solar energy in the future.

AboitizPower intends to start construction on a number of renewable energy projects in 2024, including a 50-MW wind farm in Camarines Sur and an 89-MW solar project in San Manuel, Pangasinan.
