PRESS RELEASE
Electronics Engineers and Students Unite in Iriga for Regional Summit on Governance, AI, and Industry Transformation

The Board of Electronics Engineering (BECE), in partnership with the Institute of Electronics Engineers of the Philippines (IECEP) National and the IECEP Bicol Chapter, successfully concluded the third day of their three-day regional engagement with the conduct of the Regional Summit for Electronics Engineers on May 1, 2026, held at the Iriga Sports Complex.

With the theme “Electronics Engineers at the Forefront: Governance, AI, and Industry Transformation,” the summit brought together electronics engineers, industry practitioners, academe representatives, government stakeholders, and students from various universities across the Bicol Region, who actively participated in the full-day program of learning, collaboration, and innovation.

The event featured a series of technical sessions, panel discussions, and knowledge-sharing activities focusing on the evolving role of electronics engineers in governance, the integration of artificial intelligence in engineering applications, and the ongoing transformation of industries driven by emerging technologies.

The summit also served as a platform to reinforce the importance of regulatory compliance, particularly in line with Republic Act No. 9292, while equipping professionals and future engineers with insights and tools to remain competitive and relevant in a rapidly changing technological landscape.

Participants actively engaged in discussions on best practices, innovation strategies, and collaborative opportunities aimed at strengthening the profession and contributing to national development. The event concluded with a meaningful “Kapehan with the Honorables,” an open and interactive dialogue session that provided attendees the opportunity to directly engage with members of the Board, raise concerns, and exchange ideas in a more personal and collaborative setting.

The successful conduct of the regional summit marks the culmination of the BECE and IECEP’s three-day visit in the Bicol Region, which included the PECE Technical Interviews and industry and local government engagements. This initiative reflects a continuing commitment to bring regulatory services, professional development, and industry collaboration closer to the regions.

The BECE and IECEP extend their sincere appreciation to all speakers, participating institutions, students, partners, and stakeholders whose support and active participation made the summit a meaningful and impactful gathering for the electronics engineering community.

PRESS RELEASE
Board of Electronics Engineering and IECEP Conduct Industry and LGU Visits in Albay

The Board of Electronics Engineering (BECE), together with representatives from the Institute of Electronics Engineers of the Philippines (IECEP) National and the IECEP Bicol Chapter, conducted a series of industry and local government visits in the province of Albay as part of their ongoing efforts to strengthen regulatory compliance and professional standards in the practice of electronics engineering.

These activities mark Day 2 of the three-day visit and engagement of the BECE and IECEP National in the Bicol Region, which includes industry inspections, local government coordination, and professional development initiatives for electronics engineers.

Among the key sites visited was the Tiwi Geothermal Power Plant, one of the country’s major renewable energy facilities, where the delegation engaged with technical personnel and management to assess the implementation of regulatory requirements governing electronics engineering practice.

The delegation also paid courtesy and coordination visits to the Local Government Units of Tiwi and Legazpi. These engagements focused on strengthening collaboration with local authorities to ensure adherence to Republic Act No. 9292 and to discuss potential areas where the Institute of Electronics Engineers of the Philippines (IECEP) can provide technical and advisory support.

The visits aimed to evaluate the working environment of electronics engineering professionals, ensuring that industry practices align with national standards on safety, competence, and ethical conduct. Discussions also highlighted the importance of continuous professional development, compliance with regulatory frameworks, and the role of engineers in supporting critical infrastructure and public service delivery.

The BECE emphasized its mandate to safeguard the integrity of the profession, while IECEP reaffirmed its commitment to supporting its members through advocacy, capacity-building, and collaboration with both industry and government stakeholders.

These activities form part of a broader initiative to bring regulatory services closer to the regions, promote awareness of professional standards, and foster stronger partnerships that will advance the electronics engineering profession across the Philippines.
