Metropolitan Cebu Water District (MCWD) has begun receiving desalinated water last 1 July from Isla Mactan Cordova Corporation (IMCC), a subsidiary of Vivant Water.

The initial delivery will provide 5,000 cubic meters of potable desalinated water to the MCWD network, with supply to be increased in phases toward the full 20,000 cubic-meter commitment as intake systems are further stabilized.

As the Philippines' first utility-scale seawater desalination plant, IMCC is poised to deliver climate-resilient water solutions to nearly 30,000 Cebuano households, strengthening water security for the communities and businesses that power Cebu's continued growth.

Cebu’s growth has always carried both promise and pressure. As the province continues to develop, water security becomes even more critical for an island economy shaped by geography, rapid urbanization, and the realities of a changing climate.
