GEMMMS Team Joins ROADSLOPES Forum 2022

β€œWhen people come together in a room filled with exchange of ideas, real collaboration begins.”

The GEMMMS (Geotechnical Mapping of Metro Manila Subsoil) team, under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Jonathan Dungca, took a foot forward in their collaboration with the international researchers through the ROADSLOPES Forum held online via Zoom last April 25-26, 2022.

ROADSLOPES forum, which is organized by the geotechnical engineering faculty and students of Newcastle University in United Kingdom, aims to build initial relationships between partners, share problems and ideas on road-slope stabilization, and plan future engagement events.

In the first day of the forum, GEMMMS proponent Engr. Joenel Galupino presented the road-slope stabilization techniques and methods in the Philippines. Other researchers from Newcastle University (NU) in the UK, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) in Malaysia, and Tribhuvan University (TU) in Nepal joined Engr. Galupino in sharing the road slope stabilization in their respective countries.

Day two of the forum focused on panel discussion on various questions regarding road slope stabilization and ideas. Prof. Dr. Dungca was one of the panelists, and he was joined by other professors from NU, UKM, and TU.

Other GEMMMS proponents who also attended the ROADSLOPES Forum were Prof. Dr. Mary Ann Adajar, Dr. Erica Uy, Dr. Irene Ubay-Anongphouth, and Engr. Miller Cutora. Present also in the two-day forum were the GEMMMS research assistants including Engr. Vincent Eugenio, Engr. Ramon Eudela, Engr. Emerzon Torres, Mr. Austin Rubin, Ms. Diane Esguerra, and Ms. Louise Pacayra.
