Smart City Congress 2017 - Ideathon Competition

GENERAL GUIDELINES

All "Delegates" of the Smart City Congress 2017 are entitled to join the Ideathon. They may join by registering as “Delegates” for the event. The ideathon will officially begin on July 20, 2017 and will end in the late afternoon of July 22, 2017. Awarding will be done in the Culminating Night of the event.

MECHANICS

Thursday: Workshops, networking, and groupings will be conducted on this day. There will typically be 1 short speaker talk on practical topics ranging from Pitching Best Practices to Lean Startup Methodology for the Ideathon Workshops. Then the “Pitchfire” will commence: anyone intending to pitch can submit their ideas. After pitches are submitted, VIPs and Organizers will select the top viable ideas to be worked on over the weekend. Teams will form organically, consolidate, research, and begin working.

Friday: Teams can work all day in the occasional breaks during the keynote talks and lunch break. After all the talks, they will be given time to do their ideas and they may consolidate their ideas from the facilitators of the Ideathon to validate and ask for considerations. Contestants may also do networking with their co-participants in the event to get ideas.

Saturday: Teams will begin wrapping up their product/idea and presentation around 3-4 PM to do tech-checks and practice their demonstration. After all Judges have arrived, presentations will begin. Each team typically has 5 minutes plus 2-3 minutes Q&A from the judges (this varies occasionally.) The Culminating Night will commence with the Presentation of Ideas. The winners will be awarded with a trophy, cash prize, and certificates. This will happen before the closing of the Culminating Night.
