The Part and the Whole
Some barangays around Mankayan are with narrow roads in steep mountains. During calamities, the communities rely on every accessible path for safety and survival, even a single piece of equipment can make the difference between isolation and rescue.
Here's an example of the importance of a part for the whole and work as one that applies to an equipment, family, institution, and the community that embody what we say, Es-Esa Tako.
Recently, the Mankayan MDRRMC reached out to our company with a humble but urgent request. Their loader—an essential machine used to clear debris and restore access during typhoons—had a severely dilapidated bucket. Without it, their ability to respond swiftly to landslides and road blockages would be compromised.
At first, the request was for steel plates that could be used for repair. But as we reflected on the importance of the equipment—not just as a machine, but as a lifeline for communities—we knew that simply providing materials would not be enough.
We coordinated with our company’s fabrication shop, whose skilled workers have long been the silent backbone of our operations. After careful assessment, they offered a better solution: rather than sending out raw materials, they invited the MDRRMC to bring the loader bucket directly to the shop. There, their team could ensure that the repairs would be done properly, safely, and with lasting quality.
Soon after, the worn and damaged bucket arrived—bearing the marks of years of service through mud, rocks, and storm debris. What followed was more than just a technical repair. It was a collaboration rooted in shared responsibility. Our fabricators worked with precision and pride, restoring the bucket not only to working condition but strengthening it for the challenges ahead.
When the work was completed, the transformation was remarkable. The once-damaged bucket had been repaired beautifully—solid, reliable, and ready once again to serve the people of Mankayan.
This effort may seem simple, but its impact reaches far beyond the workshop. Every cleared road means a community reconnected. Every timely response during a storm means lives protected. And behind it all is a shared commitment—to stand with our community not only in times of progress, but more importantly, in times of need.
As a mining company, we recognize that our role extends beyond our operations. It is about partnership, responsibility, and genuine care for the people around us. Supporting the MDRRMC in restoring their equipment is one small way of giving back—but for the communities who depend on that loader, it means everything.
