From the Archives: Looking back 10 years ago to a monumental milestone in Philippine public health!

A decade ago, during the 2016 National Science and Technology Week, Manila HealthTek Founder and CEO Dr. Raul Destura and his team won the DOST’s Outstanding Technology Commercialization Award (Gregorio Y. Zara Medal).

Their winning innovation? The Biotek-M Dengue Aqua Kit. This proudly Filipino diagnostic tool revolutionized local healthcare by detecting dengue in just 40 to 60 minutes. Ten years later, it continues to serve as a highly affordable alternative to expensive PCR tests, actively lowering health expenses for families and reducing unnecessary hospital admissions.

The Philippine Delegation to BIO Asia-Taiwan 亞洲生技大會 2026 recently paid a fruitful courtesy call to the Manila Economic and Cultural Office (MECO) in Taipei to strengthen cross-border collaboration in biotechnology and healthcare.

The delegation was warmly received by Hon. Corazon Avecilla-Padiernos, MECO Chairperson and Resident Representative, alongside Anthony B. Rivera, Trade Representative and Director for Commercial Affairs of the Philippine Trade and Investment Center (PTIC) in Taipei.

Dr. Raul Destura delivered a comprehensive presentation highlighting the pioneering innovations of Manila Healthtek and its subsidiaries.
