Through engaging discussions, workshops, and output presentations, participants strengthened their skills in technology communication, IEC development, pitch deck crafting, and effective technology promotion — empowering them to better position research-based innovations for potential adopters and markets.

Day 2 of the UPV TechShowcase 2026 Technology Promotion Mentoring Series (TPMS) is currently underway at the FTBI Building, UP Visayas, Miagao, Iloilo.

Participants are actively engaging in sessions on crafting effective pitch decks and enhancing pitch delivery with 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝘁. 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳. 𝗝𝗼𝗵𝗻 𝗟𝗼𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘇 𝗕𝗲𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗼 of UPV College of Management. The workshop highlights strategies on how research-based innovations can be presented more clearly, confidently, and effectively to potential adopters, partners, and stakeholders.

The activity continues to empower participants to promote their technologies toward greater societal impact and commercialization. 🚀

This activity serves as the third session of the training series designed to help researchers, innovators, and technology generators:

💡 Understand the value and market potential of their innovations, and
📣 Promote research-based technologies effectively to potential adopters and stakeholders.

Participants are currently learning from 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝘁. 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳. 𝗣𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗹 𝗚𝗹𝗮𝗱𝘆𝘀 𝗗𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗼 of the UPV College of Management through sessions focused on technology communication, crafting effective IEC and promotional materials, and enhancing the visibility and commercialization potential of research-based innovations.

The UP Visayas Technology Transfer and Business Development Office (UPV TTBDO) conducted a site visit and meeting with the Pinamuk-an Aquatic Products Producers Association (PAPPA) following the association’s intention to scale up the utilization of Depuration Technology for commercial application. 🤝🦪

The technology originated from the DOST-PCAARRD-funded projects on 𝘋𝘦𝘱𝘶𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘙𝘦𝘭𝘢𝘺𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘛𝘦𝘤𝘩𝘯𝘪𝘲𝘶𝘦𝘴 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘗𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘱𝘱𝘪𝘯𝘦 𝘎𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘯 𝘔𝘶𝘴𝘴𝘦𝘭 (𝘗𝘦𝘳𝘯𝘢 𝘷𝘪𝘳𝘪𝘥𝘪𝘴) implemented from 2014 to 2018. PAPPA is also an industry partner and beneficiary of the UPV BFAR-NFDC Shellfish Aquaculture for Rural Advancement and Progress (SARAP) Program under the project 𝘌𝘯𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘉𝘪𝘷𝘢𝘭𝘷𝘦 𝘚𝘩𝘦𝘭𝘭𝘧𝘪𝘴𝘩 𝘋𝘦𝘱𝘶𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘗𝘳𝘪𝘮𝘢𝘳𝘺 𝘗𝘳𝘰𝘤𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘨: 𝘊𝘢𝘱𝘢𝘤𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘋𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘭𝘰𝘱𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘙𝘦𝘨𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝟨.

Both initiatives were implemented under the leadership of 𝗠𝘀. 𝗥𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝗧. 𝗠𝘂𝗲𝗱𝗮 of the Institute of Fish Processing Technology, College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences, UP Visayas.

The meeting focused on possible commercialization strategies and the discussion of fair and mutually beneficial terms for both PAPPA and UPV. Representing PAPPA were 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗝𝗼𝗹𝘆𝗻 𝗚. 𝗣𝗮𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗼 and 𝗩𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗝𝘂𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗿𝗼 𝗠. 𝗥𝗼𝗴𝗮.

The UP Visayas Technology Transfer and Business Development Office (UPV TTBDO) conducted an exploratory dialogue with the Plandico Oyster Association and the LGU of Concepcion, Iloilo, represented by Mr. Rossine Prudente, LEDIP Officer of LGU Concepcion. 🤝

The discussion focused on proposed technology transfer initiatives of UPV in partnership with the LGU, including challenges in adopting R&D-based technologies and the further training needs of the association.

The Plandico Oyster Association is one of the beneficiaries of various mussel projects of UP Visayas. 🌊🦪
