The journey came with challenges — from the impact of the November 2025 Super Typhoon to the February 2026 US-Iran conflict affecting fuel and construction material costs. Despite delays, rising costs, and site challenges, we remained resilient and focused on delivering quality results.

𝗔𝗡𝗢 𝗕𝗔 𝗧𝗔𝗟𝗔𝗚𝗔 𝗔𝗡𝗚 𝗧𝗥𝗢𝗣𝗜𝗖𝗔𝗟 𝗔𝗥𝗖𝗛𝗜𝗧𝗘𝗖𝗧𝗨𝗥𝗘 𝗡𝗔 𝗘𝗞𝗦𝗔𝗞𝗧𝗢 𝗦𝗔 𝗣𝗜𝗟𝗜𝗣𝗜𝗡𝗔𝗦?
Hindi lang ito tungkol sa magandang itsura. Ang tunay na Tropical Architecture ay disenyo na akma sa init, ulan, hangin, baha, at klima ng Pilipinas.
• Nakatukod o may stilts para mas handa sa baha, moisture, at mas may airflow sa ilalim ng bahay.
• Mataas na kisame para umakyat ang mainit na hangin at manatiling mas presko ang loob.
• Ventanillas para may hangin kahit sarado ang malalaking bintana.
• Mga openings o vents sa itaas ng walls para tuloy-tuloy ang natural air circulation.
• Cross ventilation sa pamamagitan ng tamang puwesto ng mga bintana at openings sa magkabilang panig ng bahay.
• Malalapad na roof overhangs para protektado ang pader at bintana laban sa araw at ulan.
• Magagaan at breathable na materyales na hindi agad nag-iipon ng init.
• Elevated floors at raised platforms para mas ligtas sa baha at dampness.
• Covered outdoor spaces gaya ng veranda at lanai na nagbibigay ng dagdag na living area habang presko pa rin.
• Orientation ng bahay na isinasaalang-alang ang direksyon ng araw at hangin para mabawasan ang paggamit ng aircon.
Sa madaling salita, ang Tropical Architecture ay hindi simpleng design style. Isa itong matalinong paraan ng pagdisenyo ng bahay na komportable, matibay, energy-efficient, at bagay sa klima ng Pilipinas.

Sa mga dikit-dikit na bahay, lalo na sa urban areas, madalas marinig ang tanong na:
“Pwede ba ang bintana o vent shaft sa pagitan ng dalawang properties?”
Ayon sa National Building Code of the Philippines (P.D. 1096), pinapayagan ang vent shaft, pero may malinaw na minimum requirements para maging valid ito bilang source ng liwanag at bentilasyon.

𝗔𝗬𝗢𝗡 𝗦𝗔 𝗡𝗕𝗖𝗣 – 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝟴𝟬𝟵 (𝗩𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗳𝘁𝘀)
• Minimum area ng vent shaft
– 0.10 sq.m. para sa bawat 1 metro ng taas
– Pero kahit gaano pa kababa, hindi pwedeng bababa sa 1.00 sq.m.
• Minimum lapad o sukat
– 600 mm minimum sa kahit anong direction
Ibig sabihin, hindi pwede ang sobrang kipot na “singit” lang.
• Dapat bukas sa itaas
– Ideally open to the sky
– Kung hindi fully open, dapat may skylight o fixed louvers para makapasok ang hangin at liwanag

𝗠𝗔𝗛𝗔𝗟𝗔𝗚𝗔𝗡𝗚 𝗣𝗔𝗔𝗟𝗔𝗟𝗔
Ang vent shaft ay hindi shortcut sa setback at hindi rin easement.
Dapat ito ay nasa loob ng sariling property at malinaw na ipinapakita sa approved building plans.

𝗔𝗡𝗚 𝗧𝗢𝗧𝗢𝗢
Hindi sapat na “may butas para sa hangin.”
Kung kulang ang sukat ng vent shaft, hindi ito ikokonsidera ng building official bilang valid ventilation opening—kahit may bintana pa.

Sa tamang design, ang vent shaft ay simple pero malaking tulong sa comfort at legality ng bahay.
