SDC Welcomes USNS Guam, Reinforcing Its Position as a Trusted Maritime Ship Repair Partner in the Region
Subic Bay, Philippines, October 6, 2026: U.S.-owned Subic Drydock Corporation (SDC), a U.S. Navy Master Ship Repair Agreement (MSRA) holder, proudly welcomed USNS Guam (HST 1) to its Subic Bay facility for a Regular Overhaul (ROH) drydocking scheduled from October 7 through November 10, 2026.
SDC secured the firm-fixed-price ROH through a competitive procurement, building on more than 15 years of proven performance supporting U.S. Navy and Military Sealift Command dockings and afloat work, as well as maintenance requirements for the Philippine Navy fleet under the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) Program.
The project adds another significant milestone to SDC’s growing portfolio of complex vessel maintenance programs and demonstrates its capability to deliver quality, safety, reliability, and operational readiness while meeting stringent technical, regulatory, and customer requirements.
With USNS Guam’s aluminum construction, the availability draws heavily on SDC’s specialized aluminum repair and welding capability. SDC’s welding procedures and welder qualifications are approved by the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS), complemented by in-house Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) and ultrasonic thickness-gauging capabilities. SDC also operates under a NAVSEA-endorsed Quality Management System, reinforcing its commitment to rigorous quality assurance and technical standards.
Beyond its in-house capabilities, SDC has the flexibility to engage OEMs and specialized technical partners worldwide, bringing global expertise and collaborative engineering solutions to complex repair requirements. This combination of specialized technology, qualified personnel, NDT, engineering expertise, global OEM collaboration, and experienced project management enables SDC to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining quality, safety, compliance, and schedule.
