Someone asked me "What is the key to self-sufficiency on a small plot of land?" My answer was "Care for the fertility of the soil and the rest will follow." Excellent window right now for covercropping. Peas and oats are the classic fall combo. I've noticed covercrop sales have plummeted this year. i attribute this to malaise, although tight pocketbooks may be a contributing factor. I've put peas and oats on sale at Strictly Medicinal Seeds. If we put the health of our lands foremost, our own health and happiness will follow!
