The NEDSTEEL system is engineered for both cyclonic and non-cyclonic areas. The engineering covers a range of wind speeds up to 50 meters/second (180 kph) and incorporates the use of heavier steel members with special design of walls and roof framing when designed for high cyclonic areas. Traditionally, in Australia and other Western countries, housing can be made of timber framing with the exterior walls of brick, fiber cement sheeting or timber planking. NEDSTEEL exterior walls may be of brick, timber boards, plywood, fiber cement planks, concrete panels, adobe, woven bamboo, rattan or other locally produced materials. The NEDSTEEL steel framed roof trusses may be roofed with corrugated iron, 'kliplok' decking, tile shake, shingle, thatch or any locally produced materials.
